The best place to hear quality live Russian music. Very popular and quite cozy.

Kult.

Chillout place. Not the best choice if you want a big night out, but a perfect place to go out with a friend and have a quiet evening together. African food, downtempo music, cinema showing alternative films.

Fridays and Saturday evenings are quite dancy.
Opened mon-wed,
sun midday-midnight.
thu-sat midday — 6 am

Address: Yauzskaya ulitsa, #5, tel. (095) 917-5706 (metro: Novokuznetskaya, and then take tram #39, or #A and get off at the second stop, which is Yauzskie vorota)

Fabrique.

A huge dance club, especially good on Fridays and Saturdays. Mostly house music, at times arrogant face control, but perhaps one of the best places if you want loud and lots of people.

Opened from midday till 6 am

Address: Sadovnicheskaya st., #33 (metro Novokuznetskaya), tel.: (095) 953-6576.

Have you actually been there?

The "feis control" is really stringent.  Nothing pisses me off more that to make plans to go someplace and to be feised at the door.  Happens quite often at Propaganda.  The place to be in Moscow on Thursday nights.

Sorry, but I wasn't overly impressed.  Easily the most dyke-y crowd in Moscow.  Bartenders often have hard time making anything more complex than a shot.

Great DJ's and excellent late night music.  Feis control can be problematic.  Known throughout Moscow as a great place to take a young date that you don't want to spend too much money on but still impress her.

Target-rich environment for single chicks.  Feis control usually not a problem before midnight.

THE REAL McCOY

Has taken over from the Hungry Duck as the absolute king of Moscow drinking and debauchery.   Hot young deyvs offer partons the closest thing to a guarantee this side of Night Flight.  Check it out at your own risk ::)

Went once on a Thursday evening, but didn't actually get in, just too many trying, ( any other night would probably have been ok?) extremely busy and to be honest I wasn't too worried as the music they play on Thursdays is all House type which I hate anyway, was just going for the experience really. decided to go for a meal instead.

I was talking to some younger guys who go fairly regularly and they told me it didn't get going until after midnight. But they said it was always too busy really and the dancefloor was only available after midnight when they removed the tables so people could dance. I seem to remember the entrance fee was cheap though at around 150 rubles.  Apparantly the guys said they usually stay until around 5am or 6am, not my scene really. Also you have to be pretty smartly dressed from what I saw.

VOODOO LOUNGE

Great place to start the evening off before midnight.  Voodoo packs a crowd early and the drinks are cheap.  Lots of good-looking deyvs.  Low feis control.  Lots of dancing.  Place clears out early as the partons clear out for other clubs and discos.  Definitely a place you should visit.

The Hungry Duck
It's heyday was the 1990's

That's an absolute fact.  The place is now only a shell of what it once was.  I quit going in 2005 because it was too depressing and I wanted my memories to be of what it was, not what it had become.

My first visit was in April 2000.  WHAT A GREAT PLACE!  Girl partons (not hired workers) dancing topless on the bars.  Periodic shows with beefcake men dragging drunken deyvs on the stage and stripping them naked for simulated sex acts.  No dance floor so people dance EVERYWHERE.  Perfectly acceptable to feel up any girl in the place.  I actually had a girl I met in the bar that first night perform oral sex on me in one of the booths.  The place was "the wild west".

Those wild nightlife times of the financial crisis days are long gone and never to return.  Because I was good friends with the manager (Johnny) I was allowed to bring in a camera and have some pictures if you'd like to see them?

The Duck was actually founded by a mixed group of Chechen and Kalmyk businessmen.

You don't hear much about Chechen-Kalmyk joint ventures. And for good reason: four of those guys are dead now. The fourth, a Chechen named Roman, died fairly recently. He had just finished doing three years in jail for murder.

I met Harrison Ford there one night.  He was in Moscow filming K-19 The Widowmaker at the time.  Said he heard about the place and wanted to visit.  Just walked in without security and was at the bar ordering a beer.

I guess Brad you will find clubs like this all round the world at times, they come and go, they all seem to have a moment in time that is just right time right place, we have had them here in the UK over the years, but this one was pretty notorious even amongst those that had a reputation for being darn right bad!

Obscene writings, drawings, photographs, or the like, esp. those having little or no artistic merit,

Sexually explicit pictures, writing, or other material whose primary purpose is to cause sexual arousal. Lurid or sensational material is that OK ;)

Damn you've cut my available photographs by 75%.  I will assume that naked breasts are ok if dancing on the bar.  It will give you the contex of what it was like to be a bar customer back in those days.  No photos of sumulated sex acts.  Am I clear to post?
