Making Pizza at Home

My "healthy" pizza recipe for my "cheat" days.

Dough:

3 1/2 cups type00 flour, preferably from Italy.
1/4 cup olive oil
1 tsp salt
pinch of honey or brown sugar to taste optional.
1 packet yeast (11 grams)
400 milliliters warm water

I usually let the yeast sit a bit before adding it to the mix. Add all ingredients together and mix for 5-10 minutes. Cover with damp cloth and let sit for another 1-3 hrs.

Sauce:
I jar whole tomatoes hand squeezed after straining the juice.
1/3 garlic clove minced

Toppings to your liking. I usually go for fresh veggies, mushrooms scrubbed not rinsed, black olives, zucchini, bell pepper, and red onions. 

As the Russians say; very tasty.

I also make pizza. Occasionally, Wifey makes the dough similar to how you describe, sometimes I use Northern Dough.

This was one my Friday creations.

That's a base sauce made from tinned organic chopped tomatoes, to which I add garlic and seaweed (Japanese Nori Sprinkle actually) and then blend it. For toppings there is sweetcorn, mushroom, peppers, hot Scotch Bonnet chillies and a mix of cheddar and mozzarella cheese. And a bit of salami on top.

Healthy? At about 1000 calories, I'd say not so much. But what I do like is the quality ingredients that I choose.  :nod:

Yep, we make our own as well.

Making the base tomato sauce is dead easy. Fresh herbs and paprika for a bit of added flavour.
Toppings can vary, we use olives, jalapeño peppers, chicken strips/pepperoni, tomato, peppers, onion and the kids like pineapple on theirs.

The most time consuming part about making pizza is the dough. I usually cheat and get frozen bread dough. Turns out wonderful and it's much easier.

Yes, the Northern Dough I use sometimes is frozen. I don’t see any difference with it.

Just make extra and freeze your own dough.

Something you picked up on your travels in China and NK, no doubt.

Indeed, ginseng from North Korea. I put it in chillies, omelettes and all sorts. They reckon it cures everything and think of it as a general antioxidant.

The cheese is there I just didn't put much on that one. I experiment with different cheese from time to time, but usually stick to mozzarella and parmesan.

I find making the dough a snap these days. I'm sure what you buy is good and no doubt tastes good too, just wondering if they add some ingredients that I can't pronounce.  ;D
