I was back to Russia in September, travel was a complete mess. We went
through Amsterdam on KLM.
 
After KLM lost our bags and cancelled the rest of our flights.
They shipped us out on a flight to the Airport on the Asian side
(SAW) Then we found a shuttle between the airports $100.00 and
went to the right airport (IST) but missed our flight to Moscow on
Aeroflot.

I got us a hotel and we showered and ate.

I called KLM but they cancelled all the flights and want an extra $1,200
to $1,800 to allow us to use them to return to the USA.
They don't give a flying f#ck* where our bags may be.

*flying F#ck is a technical term which means they don't care even a little bit.
A normal person that you meet at the beach for example, doesn't normally
want bad things to happen to you. If you were sitting in the sun getting
burned to a crisp. If asked they might tell you that yes, you look fried
and offer you some of their aloe vera. This is caring on a far higher
level than not giving a flying F#ck.

Smiley Girl arranged a driver to pick us up in Moscow and drove through
the night.

Then I had the experience of trying to find some clothes my size. This
was a challenge, but eventually I found enough items to survive.

My trip back was much worse. I know someone will ask but I don't want
to explain. Too much private information that won't go into. Angel Eyes
spent another month in Voronezh getting her Russian passport renewed
and had a far better experience than I did. She also preplanned longer
layovers, each over 8 hours and in the case of Istambul she spent several
days, some in hope of recovering our lost baggage.

She needed the extra time. Chasing our new grand daughter around
while living off the couch was not a sufficient rest that she sorely
needed.

Been two years, none of the older boys have procreated. It required my Russian
step daughter to make it happen. My aviator son is married now and might start
adding to the herd. His wife seems keen to the idea (she is also Navy).

NOTE: I had to change the title, it was driving me nuts.
