Thousands of Russians have taken to social media to call on the government to table and pass a domestic violence bill as soon as possible.

There has a been a surge in more widespread discussions around attitudes towards abuse and domestic violence in Russia.

We got a neighbour who is probably beating his wife.. often when we go out to the lift other neighbours have posted posters on the wall telling him they are calling the police next time they hear him shouting, that went on for a few weeks seemed to stop now..

Maybe the police were called in the end and gave him a good kicking to shut him up..
