Number 9 on the list came as a surprise, I have given fine perfumes as gifts, and were well received.

Because russians believe that if you gift a watch/clock, then your relationship to that person is doomed as 'time has run out'.

In case of a love-interest, that is a particularly bad sign

Talked with several Russian's...more males than females and the general consensus was this was a Chinese, rather than Russian superstition.

I received a gift a watch ...as did her son from a Russian...
