Your lady and Chinese food?

Given what you know about your RW/UW thus far, how do you think she would react if you suggested taking her to a Oriental restaurant for Chinese food?

My GF loves Oriental food, but we do have a really good restaurant in my parents town. It is the exception to the rule that most oriental restaurants in NL serve food of poor quality. (tastes great though)

Mark,

Please keep in mind that what we often call "Chinese" in NL is actually usually Chinese-Indonesian and not real Chinese.

There seems to be quite a bit of difference between those two.

I have a good one close to my apartment as well. My ex loved to go there, so did I  8)

I didn't go to a Chinese restaurant with Miss Minsk yet, but I'm quite sure she'd like it because she likes all kinds of food ;)

My wife loves it, I first took her to a Chinese buffet ( a famous one) in Edinburgh while on business there last year, since that experience we have been for a few more locally and also had the odd take away. She is quite happy with Chinese food and my step daughter also likes it, although I think the novelty of being able to serve yourself as you do at some of the buffet places is the main reason, but none the less, she always seems to at least eat enough to keep her happy.  :)

We have a lot of Chinese / Cantonese, I actually prefer Cantonese.

My wife loves Chinese food! going out to a local Chinese restaurant on Sunday afternoon is evolving into a tradition. She really likes a buffet format.

Both with my first RW fiancee and my wife their total favorite restaurants were Chinese Buffet's.   Actually with my wife that is about the only kind of restaurant I can talk her into going to.

I can always recall my first trip with my former fiancee to a Chinese buffet.   When she saw it her eyes lit up.   She came back with a plate that could not hold another ounce.   As we were sitting there eating she looked to her left and said to me:  "Now I feel better, that woman has more food on her plate than I did"  I looked over and sure enough, the 450 pound woman sitting there had more food on her plate.

My wife likes the style of cooking, stir fry, sauces, and different kinds of rice, etc., however when she learned that most Chinese restaurants in our area use inferior grades of foods and load it up with MSG to make it taste good she backed off.   She can be a bit of a health food nut, usually shopping at the local Sun Harvest store for organically grown stuff.   We often imitate Chinese food at home, but never go out for it.

Ada and I ate at a Chinese restaurant in Bucharest. It was great since we are both vegetarians, we weren't so limited with what we could order, like we were at the other restaurants we ate at. I imagine that we will have Chinese food often  :)

I also try to reduce MSG in my diet as much as possible (it has the number E621 for people living in Europe). Whenever possible I try to avoid it. It takes quite some discipline since A LOT of products contain it. But when closely looking at labels it's possible to reduce the amount drastically at least.

Do a search on Youtube for MSG and you'll see why you should avoid it. Same applies to artificial sweeteners like Aspartame.

The Mandarin here is considered one of Ontario's Healthy Restaurant experiences, and has won many awards for the freshest foods prepared, and for the service they provide. It is also included in the Ontario's Healthy Restaurant Program here.

The one thing I like about this place I like, is that they have people refilling any selection when it starts to get low, yet never have too much out, so any additives are not needed tp preserve it.

But is also a buffet of both Chinese and western for both tastes, or for one to mix and match as your heart desires.  :)

So for those concerned about what is in your food, this is one you do not have to worry about.  tiphat

All the FSUW I ever dated loved Boston's Chinatown and the Japanese style Sushi places were a particular favorite...

Now in the Boston Burbs of SoNH we have a chain of Chinese Polynesian American buffets all you can eat with sushi included for $12.00 Plus 7% Meals Tax - sushi is as good as the Japanese Steak House down the street which normally charges $30 for a plate of sushi - they have a massive buffet of really fresh every thing from Pizza for the kids to broiled salmon and ribs - full salad and fruit bar - all the seafood you can imagine and the only Mongolian grill I have ever seen (Much better than Honolulu Korean Yakiniku and Japanese Tepanyaki grills)

The Mongolian grill is about 36 inches round and the Chef uses 2 Giant Chop Sticks to move the ingredients and add your spices as he walks around the grill in circles--- you pick from refrigerated pork, beef, chicken, shrimp and fish in front of your eyes and - I normally take a plate of protein and a plate of mixed fresh veggies - a huge fresh variety - and then hand it over to the Chef with a dollar tip to grill with my choice of seasonings added - no salt - no MSG - with a variety of good stuff like sesame oil, sesame seeds, lemon juice, garlic sauce, chili oil, etc etc and the protein and veggies are steam grilled to perfection and the Chef uses the two Giant chopsticks and rolls the stir fried delights off the edge of the grill above the drip catcher below and on to your plate steaming hot and fresh.

The cute Chinese girls all wear traditional Silk jackets and tight black slacks as they remove your all you can eat empty plates and bring you your beverages - duties they are happy to perform for a modest tip!  Place is always clean and always packed and its hard to buy such a variety of fresh food and prepare it for the same price - downside is my waistline now limits me to once every two weeks!

I love all Asian cooking, unfortunately for me my husband would eat only Thai and Chinese, so Indian (is it Asian?) or Japanese restaurants out of the question. We stayed in one hotel where they served miso soup for breakfast. I think I was that only person who ate it

Mila and I went to a Chinese Buffet in Moscow and she enjoyed it a lot.

Now here she is a big fan of Mandarin Chinese Buffet and Kirill likes it too.
Look, we're gonna spend half the night driving around the Hills looking for this one party and you're going to say it sucks and we're all gonna leave and then we're gonna go look for this other party. But all the parties and all the bars, they all suck. <-Same goes for forums!

Mrs Mendeleyeva will not eat Chinese food in Russia. Its a combination of having it drilled into her that all Chinese restaurants are dirty and the food is from suspect sources.

In the West however it's a different story. She will eat any Oriental food as long as the restaurant is large and there are plenty of Westerners inside. A little restaurant frequented only by Chinese diners is still suspect to her.

I am curious to try any food, but am not such fan of any. Georgian food is no worse than any other  :loving: Anyway, I see nothing bad in inviting in any ethnical restaurant :) Just better check in advance quality of food there if it is possible ;)
I close eyes to see better

In general Mrs Mendeleyeva thinks restaurants are a waste of money and purveyors of bad nutrition. The one exception is our "tradition" My-My (moo moo) in Moscow.

Keep her!

Just for this 2 reasons?

I asked my husband to go to restaurant last night and he kindly agreed. I know I'm not a keeper but I enjoyed my meal enormously. It was Thai seefood green curry. Yummy!...

But comments like that make me wonder. Why do men really looking for a wife in other parts of the world? Driven by hard economical situation?  ::)

Given what you know about your RW/UW thus far, how do you think she would react if you suggested taking her to a Oriental restaurant for Chinese food?

My Russian GF eats every meal only using "chopsticks". I think she would be OK with this :)

but refuses to go "eat out" at any resturaunt when we are together, as she says
Russian resturaunts "are bad kitchen" (meaning any resturaunt in Russia regardless of the food/ethinicity). She states she does not trust the health and cleanliness (I suspect more to wanting to save "our" money)
