Thank you, for the kind wishes

Thoroughly recommend GE as a place to get married to a FSU lady .

The Georgian administration building staff in Tbilisi  understand ENG and RU and the criteria to get married is simple.

We had a sl. upgraded service - to make it special for SC - as this was her first time.

Got an apostilled (?) Eng version of the marriage Certificate next day (£40) and SC went off to RU to get a Schengen Visa

More photos / info later

s that is were she is resident

@Steveboy  :ROFL:

Some photos:

The Mushroom  ... the Public Services Civil Hall - where one goes to register to be married

Boy, the Georgians could show most nations a clean pair of heels re efficiency ..

One enters - go to the middle of the interior - info desk - state your requirement and they give you a ticket and area to go to .... by the time you get there - your number will be shown and the desk to attend ;)

Registration and the service cost c. £30  - it cost £45 for the Apostatised (?) Marriage Cert

We elected to get married in one of three dedicated marriage halls in Tbilisi - in the old city walls

SC was booked into a beauty parlour at 10:00 and FOUR women were still working on her at 13:45 - and we were 20 mins drive from the Marriage hall and no amount of 'encouragement from me to hurry up' seemed to make an impression :)

" This is Georgia -  the Bride can be an hour late !" ... Not according to my 'fixer' - who kept the lady registrar calm !

I had a premium taxi booked and the guy wouldn't wait - even though being paid and we arrived just under an hour late in a Toyota Prius that stank of stale cigarettes and SC was complaining the back seat was dirty and would ruin her dress :))))

One of my biz partners was outside to wave us down and whisk us in to the marriage hall and I had rung and asked the fixer to allow me to speak in RU to the registrar and apologise... which went down well !  She conducted the service in RU for SC - as neither of us would have understood Georgian and we made little speeches to each other in English and Russian ...
'm not enjoying myself as much as she was ;)

After the marriage, we had to walk back to the mushroom building to request our speedy 'apostilisation' of the marriage cert and it was a wonderful scene as even Ambulances stopped to take photos then zoomed off with sirens and blue flashing lights..We felt like movie stars !

Photos are forbidden within the mushroom, but it did not stop the photos being taken ))

Then we headed off to the Radio Cafe and nearby Park for our wedding do !

Compared to getting married in the UK, Russia or CY ... Georgia is a doodle  - apart from the time-keeping of Beauty salons !

Compared to getting married in the UK, Russia or CY ... Georgia is a doddle  -

May I ask, why did you choose to get married there rather than the UK or Russia? From what you posted, I assume it was a small ceremony with few - if any - friends and family.

Not that I'm knocking that, if I had my time again, I'd have done it in Russia over the UK. But I'm wondering why a third country neither of you are native to? Kinda like a couple eloping to Canada or the US, you'd wonder why.

Manny, once again asking the tough questions, but not expecting to hear the truth.

We both love Tbilisi and Sveta was married in the Russian language, which was important for me - as it is her first time and her English would miss some of the nuances.

My Ma's no longer fit to travel - we held out or an improvement - and ability to travel - the dress is for a more Summer wedding ...

We have parts 2 (Church Blessing) which UK/ Irish folk will attend ( family and friends )   and 3 ( Russians ) coming up ..

..and we chose Dec 12th to remember something positive ;)

EVEN on this thread - it interesting that some members try to find something 'negative' in the simplest of affirmations of emotion !  :chuckle:

My first wedding was attended by 120 folk, following a Church ceremony and marquis do ... my second was in Cyprus with just over 10 folks and a 'reception' back at our apt overlooking Limassol bay, and this one was only 3 guests  - may be no one loves us ? ;)

..They were certainly NOT 'respectful' !  :chuckle:
