The Black Sea and it's cities: Sochi:
[attachimg=1]
Located south of Krasnodar is the beautiful city of Sochi (Сочи) perhaps most famous in recents years as the location of the dacha where the last Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev was under house arrest during the attempted coup as the Soviet Union was crumbling.

Sochi is a Russian resort city, situated in Krasnodar Krai just north of the southern Russian border. It sprawls along the shores of the Black Sea against the background of the snow-capped peaks of the Caucasus Mountains.

The views approaching Sochi are incredible! As your car slowly descends from the mountains, the vast Black Sea stretches forever and then the city appears. Like most Russian cities, Sochi is steadily losing population. In the 2002 Census it had a population 328,809, down from 336,514 recorded in the 1989 Census.

Part of the Turkish/Ottoman Empire, the territory was ceded to Russia in 1829 as a result of a Russo-Turkish War. Sochi is the only area in all of Russia to enjoy subtropical vegetation.
[attachimg=5]
The city has been selected to host the XXII Olympic Winter Games in 2014. Today Sochi is in the midst of a building spree as Russia prepares for the Winter Games.
[attachimg=6] At 145 km (90 mi), greater Sochi is claimed to be the longest city in Europe. Sochi is home to dozens of health sanatoriums.
[attachimg=10] The monument to the famous "Yalta Conference" with Josef Stalin, Winston Churchhill and Franklin D. Roosevelt is located in Sochi.
[attachimg=7] The suburb of Adler is home to one of the largest trout fish farms in Russia.
[attachimg=8] Something not very common in Russian--tornados come often to Sochi.

‘Storm of the year’ in Sochi in Instagram reports

While it seems to be a hard (bad) storm, it was NOT a hurricane.
-
S.C was pretty excited about it ..'reporting via Skype - the aftermath of the storm - heavy stones smashing restaurant windows that are 20m and 3 m above the normal sea state.
Some friends of ours were excited about paddle boarding in a predicated 1m surge..I expect if they had tried it - they could have been washed up on the street

SC is most upset that the sunbathing season has finally ended and booked flights for us to the far east !

Если я правильно понял вопрос, то тут зелено круглый год. Не все растения, конечно, но многие. Я сам был очень даже удивлен, после Киева :) Тут даже насекомые могут зимой по улице ползать, в теплые дни.

1/ Yacht Graceful is registered to an offshore British dependant - couldn't possibly be the President's .... :chuckle:
2/ Black 'Marketer' ... marketeer ? Can't say I've met any folk - that stood out as such
3/ Drunks in track-suits? No..... In four years, I've seen ONE sl.drunk on the sea-front - guy riding a bicycle and stopped by police - made to walk ))
Is it Monaco, Nice or Marbella ? No ... but it is generally clean and sl.drunk people aren't a nuisance like in some Euro resort
