Title: Hilarious!
Post by: Contrarian on January 30, 2020, 09:13:28 PM
Have the U.K. Gents heard about this?

15-year-old gained access to plans for intelligence operations in Afghanistan and Iran by pretending to be the head of the CIA to gain access to his computers, a court has heard.

From the bedroom of the Leicestershire home he shared with his mother, Kane Gamble used “social engineering” – where a person builds up a picture of information and uses it manipulate others into handing over more – to access the personal and work accounts of some of America's most powerful spy chiefs

Not specifically, but he isn't the first.

However, if a 15-year-old kid can do this stuff in some of the most secure parts of the U.S security networks does anyone with half a brain not think that U.S, Chinese, Russian, Korean, Iranian, French German, British etc intelligence agencies are not doing exactly the same kind of stuff on a routine basis?

His defense team says he has autism. He had a certain genius and ballsy attitude about him.

Like the guy in that Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman movie — Rain Man.

His autism would likely have been a significant advantage. Many people with autism have the ability to hyper focus on things that interest them. It can make them implacable on their way to a desired goal.

From what I read, much of what he was doing was social engineering. Persistence and patience required much more than technical ability. The technical skills should not be discounted but its clear that he'd not have attained his goals without his social engineering skills.
