Thinking of buying one. Any issues with the car one needs to be aware of?
-
The current one or the previous S197 shape?
-
give me the info and I can give you all the info you need,
year is key. GT, V-6, 4cyl.
km? etc, etc.
Great fun car, even though 4 seater, not practical
unless kids are very small, think of 2 seater and if truly
needed can throw someone in the back, preferably people you don't like :)
Other question is, in your market, how hard is it to get parts?

Steering wheel on the wrong side

Year - 2014/15
GT
V8 6 cyl
Km 60-100k
Parts shouldn’t be a problem as there is an established market for supercars in this part of the world.
And the steering is on the ‘right’ side here.
Insurance quite reasonable as well.

Supercar?

Supercar?
Supercars (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supercar)
-
for those of our dear members that didn't know, Ford actually build Mustangs in right hand drive for the UK and Australia....not "conversions"
-
A Venn diagram of the set of cars that are 'supercars' and the set of cars called 'Mustang' would have no intersection. Nice car, fun car, iconic brand, all true. But supercar? Find a Ford dealer, found your service.
Redroo, not until after Dogsoldier's target. A 2014/15 car is previous generation. S550, current gen, is the first actually built as left and right hookers.

Andrew being pedantic as ever.
I’ll not waste my time debating this. Other readers can make their mind up whether a Ford Mustang GT500 is or isn’t a supercar.

Pretty solid year, no major issues, check it out well and you should be fine.
Friend of mine had a 2014 V-6 it worked quite well. approximate 300 HP
fun car. Change oil every 5-8000 km, air filter yearly or more depending
on climate, you should be fine.
In my world almost every Mustang gets modded. So depending on your end goal
for car, would depend on what if anything you would do. we almost always start with handling :)
I forget where you are, year round car?
-

The S197 range was left hand drive only. When Ford noticed how many blokes like me were importing them, they made the current generation right hand drive too as Roo notes.
Other readers can make their mind up whether a Ford Mustang GT500 is or isn’t a supercar.
I'd regard them as a muscle car. A super car would be more the Bugattis, Lambos, Ferraris and the like.
Big fun though whatever you call them. I recall build quality wasn't too bad, suspension was a bit basic and the interiors while OK, wasn't in German league. But I enjoyed the ones I had.
-
Dogsoldier, not being pedantic. There's a difference between what the world calls a supercar and what you do. Manny sums it up quite well.
The Mustang is not an expensive car in its home market, the 2020 models start at just $33k, and it shows in the way the car is presented to drivers. When I have driven them, and I have, one could not be impressed by the quality of the materials used or fit and finish because the emphasis was on giving the driver as much power for the target price as possible. A supercar does not have that set of compromises. On the other hand, one can use a Mustang as a daily driver. Supercars, not so much, the maintenance requirements are too exacting for that, even for rich folks.
Is the Mustang a super car? That's a matter of taste - I can understand absolutely how you think it is, but it isn't a supercar. When I used to visit the USA it was my habit to rent a Mustang when I could, I liked them, even the versions that were available for hire.
The thing was though that you were referring to it in terms of service and maintenance in your current locale, hence my comment about 'find a Ford dealer'. :)
Enjoy your new car. I am sure that you will enjoy a super car!
-
It is true its not a super car, mine beats super cars or at least mid level super cars
and is still not considered a super car. it punches above it weight,
IE: Porsche GT3, Audi R-8, Ferrari 360 etc, sorry you lose.
Only supper car makes is the Ford GT. you have to win a lottery to get one.
List of 10,000 videos was submitted last year for a total of 450 cars
the cost $450 k USD and you sign a contract that you can't sell it for two years.
All that said, bang for the buck is what your getting, about 300 hp
will handle decent without mods, fun toy at reasonable costs.
if you get the bug for not a lot of many you can upgrade that performance
to really piss off some of the high end local cars for very little money :)
Again depends on what you want it for.
-
I'd regard them as a muscle car.
I recall reading that in the 1960/70’s they were called muscle cars but that nomenclature has gone by the by.
Anyway, there are online references to these cars as super cars. I suppose it would depend on the model and all the add ons to enhance performance and not just a bog standard model.
The thing was though that you were referring to it in terms of service and maintenance in your current locale, hence my comment about 'find a Ford dealer'. :)
Well, no, I wasn’t.
I was just asking about people’s experience of the car and whether there were any specific issues they had come across. Nothing to do with location at all as I doubt there are many, if any, members who have driven this car in this part of the world.

I haven’t bought one yet but if I do, I’m sure I will. tiphat

Hmmm...
I think that you possibly forgot what you actually wrote.
Parts shouldn’t be a problem as there is an established market for supercars in this part of the world.
Here's how those words work in the English language: you were writing about your proposed purchase, a Ford Mustang. The Ford Mustang is a relatively cheap car designed to bring powerful cars to the mass market. A role that it still fulfills today, over 50 years after its introduction.
Your sentence was referring to your proposed acquisition in the same sentence as you referred to supercars and the ability to service them. In English, this means that you were placing your proposed purchase into the same universe as supercars - a universe that the Ford Mustang GT clearly does not inhabit. You also referred to the ability to service your car by referring to the ease of buying parts for these supercars.
Words have meanings, we ignore those meanings only at the cost of clarity. From the words you wrote, we can understand that you see the Ford Mustang GT, a car costing around $40K which is, in the USA around the average price for a new car, as a supercar. That's fine but please don't get miffed when somebody reading your words and assuming that you know what you are writing, makes a comment on those words and their incongruity!
It's probably a good thing that your work does not rely on accurate communication. :)

How about you refresh your memory and read my original post?
As for language, do I make any reference to cost in any of my posts?
Your assumption is that I think the supercar designation is entirely predicated on cost.
Another assumption: what I don’t do in my work.
Your mistakes are many.
-
Dogsoldier, please read my posts before writing like [insults not needed].
I quoted your words in my post.
Are you suggesting that you do not recall writing those words?
Was your account hacked and your post edited by some invisible hand?
Now, please excuse me. I need to jump into my £40,000 supercar and head off to the shops to buy some bread. Now that a supercar is any car that costs more than $32k I guess we are all driving supercars, eh?

I recommend getting on your bike to buy some whole wheat healthy bread. :plane:

Hm, didn't know the difference between a normal mustang and a GT.
So I looked up an example:
https://www.autowereld.nl/ford/mustang/gt-v8-premium-206852/details.html
Base stats:
Cost: 35k
Year: 2019-11
Milage: 7
BHP: 420
KW: 309
0-60 4.8 Seconds
Luxury: Almost nothing.
Now thats a fun car! You're basicly getting a big engine on wheels that is street-legal and not much else.

So now we have ad hominem attacks and another thread derailed by one of the usual culprits.

I drove the 3.6 V6 model the other day. It didn’t ring any bells with me. Seemed quite a sedate drive although it was an automatic, so the manual version might be a more interesting drive.

Yes, that would also be the normal Mustang. The GT (and the one in my link) is a 5.0 Litre V8 engine with 420BHP.

I had a V6 one in the UK I imported.

This shot is at the Lithuanian/Latvian border in 08. I took it to Estonia (http://ruadventures.com/forum/index.php/topic,3516.msg56383.html#msg56383).
Here's a better shot in the UK.

You'll not be flying around corners with your hair on fire shouting like Clarkson in one, but they are fun.
For sure, the 5L V8 is the one to have.
-
I ran this one for about 18 months here.

This is a 5L convertible, this was an awesome car.

try this one out, My toy, some serious fun
and not a super car, but it will play with them

That’s the one I’m looking at. Not in that colour though.

Not many corners to fly around out here, sadly but there are a few nice straights where one could floor it.
I think red is the best colour for the car. None of the other colours seem to give it that *mustang* look.

I am really confused. How can a V-6 be a 4cyl.?
Anyway, these retro Mustangs are better-looking than the first ones from the '60's and those were great!
