Wow, the really want to know an awful lot for some reason.

Do they really need to know my last 3 employers and education details??

Anal springs to mind. Is this Russia at its best?

Yes they do and unless you want to write detailed explanation letters in the near future, it would be wise to fill out every line in detail.  How else will they know whether or not to send an "agent" to meet with you while in country to discuss what you know?  ;D  Kidding.

Better to just fill it out and send it off and not worry about it....although I was curious why they needed all that as well...but lost no sleep over it.

Indeed, cold war mentality still strong I can see.

Yeah I've filled it all out and double checked it (several times), now just need to print and post.

FWIW it's worth, http://www.visahq.com/ is about the best service out there for Americans.  I simply can't state enough good things about them. Based in DC, all embassy's are within walking distance from their office.

Just checked out their web page.

$230 for a Russian visa PLUS you must supply the letter of invitation.

$249 at www.gotorussia.net and THEY provide the letter of invitation.

That is who I used and was quite pleased with them.

I'm planning to visit Saint P in mid October, I'm only planning on visiting for a few days via one of the Baltic states.

Is the company above still endorsed by RUA? How long can I expect it to take from when I post my passport off? Ideally want it back within 2 weeks.

Yes they are fine. I still use them.

Arrived yesterday Manny, bit alarmed to open my passport and see the photo part empty. Checked on RR's website and this is the norm, had me worried for a moment though.

Would definitely use again.

Yes, Russian visas no longer have photos. It says "Photo not required" where it would normally be.

Oh, I thought he meant his photo for the UK passport.  I was confused briefly.  I was wondering why I had to send 2 passport photos when I applied for my Visa a couple months ago and saw no use of them when it was returned to me.  I wonder why we still have to send them?

We only have to send one.

Because they like bits of paper and rubber stamping stuff I expect.

Shouldn't this thread be updated now? For the UK at least as it is not now possible to use an agent for a Russian visa. Now everyone has to attend the visa centre and give a finger print scan. Its real pain in the ass especially if your inviting friends and family over to you.
My sister and husband are coming over to Russia in June, I waited until they purchased the tickets before I told them they need to travel to london to make the visa now.

Stevieboy!  There are folk for whom using an agent should simply involve getting their fingers scanned. It's called value added service.

Hopefully sorting my RU visa out this week, business, full monty, one day service, costing a fortune, and I've still got to get my FP's done in London. Gone through Real Russia, hope it will go ok....

Luckily I pass through Londres a lot so no issue.

Slumming it on Easyjet for the MAN-DME flight tho - even the flexi too much of a bargain. Not sorted the DME-CEK bit out yet tho, might take the train - there's a 1 day 5 hours one now overnight - last time I did it by train it took about 3 days.....

Got a bit of business in Moscow first though, hope Moscow has improved since 2004........

Hi Ste.. I got a good looking bespectacled brunette lass and managed to get her to smile. I thought the staff were much more efficient and friendly than the UK Irish Cypriot equivalents I've dealt with.

Thank God for out-sourcing.

ATTN:  Any of the more experienced travelers to Russia from the USA.

I am wondering if anyone has used Ambassador company to get their visa for Russia?

Be careful what you wish for, you might get it.
