The K1 Journey

<< < (2/12) > >>

Zachris:
Manny moved this presentation about the K-1 process up to a higher level, so it is now easier to find on the forum. Turboguy gave us a great overview of the process along with some minor updates and corrections by other members. However, the last post was November 2008. I know a few things have changed since then, I just don’t know exactly how much.

Also, I note that this review is very Russia-centric, with a few addendums to include Ukraine. Fair enough, after all this is RUAdventures. However, I know that there are a growing number of members with experience and interest in the other FSU Republics. I, for one, would have welcomed some Uzbekistan centered information.

So, let’s just call this an open invitation of update the information from the USA end of things, and to share experiences with FSU embassies, Russian and otherwise.

I will share my (or Svetlana's) experiences with the US Embassy in Tashkent once I have them. In the meanwhile, here is what I have learned that may update some of what is found above.

An unofficial but helpful site and discussion forum at http://www.visajourney.com/
This forum contains several guides that are helpful, but that may also be a bit out of date. The forum is not FSUW centered, but you can share experiences and ask questions of people bringing in fiance(e)s from all over the world.

A direct quote from the visa page on fees, which have changed several times over the past few years (gone both up and down) and so you can find conflicting information on the different web sources.

--- Quote ---How Often Do the Fees Change? The form and biometric fees on the list above are current as of November 23, 2010. However, because USCIS fees change periodically, you can verify if the fees are correct by following one of the steps below:
* Visit our website, select "Immigration Forms" and check the appropriate fee;
* Review the G-1055 Fee Schedule located here or included in your form package, if you called us to request the form; or
* Telephone our National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283  and ask for the fee information

The best is to call the number and ask, rather than get it from an out of date web page.

Now, let's have your updates.

Zachris:
Not sure why that last bit uses such a small font, but the important thing is still readable.

Also, all applications now go to the same address:
USCIS
PO Box 660151
Dallas, TX 75266
