The furthest out wacko birds live in California. Currently they are the majority
so they have been voting in the nutjob/incompetent leaders that run the
state today.

I would note that I lived there for 15 years and that there are a lot of normal
thoughtful, logical, industrial people but the nutter's run the place.

This thread is a place to post the California topics that shouldn't be associated
with the rest of the country.

The State of California wants to screw up your kid. They have a state
sponsored mental health app. Which advocates
'Drop Christianity and embrace the occult':

The state of California has been caught pushing occult religions on children, with counseling to consider "Tarot and Tidings," your own "high priestess," and situations "where your magic grows," according to a report at Harbingers Daily.

It is the Department of Healthcare Services in California that pays for and
promotes to children a website called Soluna.

t calls itself, "your space to destress, bounce back, and reset. Completely free and confidential for California teens and young adults."

And it offers one-on-one counseling: "Connect with a trained Soluna Coach whenever you need someone in your corner. Whether you're looking to talk
right now or want to schedule ahead, our coaches are here for you. No
insurance needed, no session limits, and absolutely free – just open,
judgment-free support on your terms."

But the report explains how the app "advises teens to drop Christianity and embrace the occult."

read all about it here

It isn't just california, it seems Netherlands also can go banana's on politics (which country doesn't).

The mayor of Amsterdam (miss Femke Halsema) has been elected to best mayor of all of Netherlands in the year 2024.

What a joke.

See this excellent rebuttal (google-translated) article:
Femke not the best Mayor.... not even close

Don't mind the errors please!

Nutty, Fraud and Lies...

I think it was 2008 when Proposition, I believe A1 for the construction of a high speed rail passed by the voters (I didn't but Jones! may have - Hahah!) connecting LA - SF. The budget then was a whopping $30 billion big ones (IINM)..

I think it took 3 years of planning and permitting before the construction began. Not sure what the planned schedule was then but as you can see from the picture below, they haven't even completed half of it today.

With all the change orders added to the budget since construction start, the cost to date had grown to $130 billion dollars, and obviously, still counting....

I don't live in California, so do not have a clue. Is any part of this high speed rail operational?

The cost of it going from an estimate of $30 Billion to $130 Billion, certainly is crazy.

Not sure but I wouldn't think so. At one time they cited having passenger service by 2030 but it's been at least 2-3 years since I read that.

Apparently no part of it is operational, after all those years. Funding is a big problem. Hard to complete a big project, without money.

Completion date remains a mystery

Hey wait a minute I think I'm being teased again!

Believe it or not I was a full-blown (And misguided) conservative back in 2008!   I don't recall how I might have voted...but I must say I really like grand infrastructure projects...it's too bad that we have been incapable of doing very much with them.   Next thing is the rail to Vegas which doesn't look like a money winner unless gas prices rise a lot and people are priced out of driving, but even then there are electric cars and the stations are being built along the I-15...but at least the private company (Brightline-West) will probably get it done.
BTW did you notice that the prices at the pump have skyrocketed since you voted for that stupid tax a year or two ago?  tiphat   I bought gas this morning at Arco in SoCal. $4.59 a gallon.  Just filled up in Vegas this afternoon...3.49 a gallon.

As I recall there is a thread about the price of gas where you live. In Connecticut, the price runs from $2.85 to 2.99 per gallon. Last week in the Netherlands, I believe I was paying eight dollars approximately for a gallon of gas, 95 octane. Germany and Poland are lower in price.

My buddy’s parents cashed out on a lot of their properties and life savings to build a gas station on the outskirts of the strip along the 15 a few years ago. We didn’t think it was such a hot idea, but what do we really know about these things. We were too busy scoping out women at the time.

It’s a freaking gold mine that just keeps spewing golden eggs. The parents had since passed away and my bud and his two siblings and all the grandkids likely no longer has money problems for the rest of their lives. I’m sure they’re voting ‘no’ for any HSR programs to Vegas.

Yeah right. C’mon ‘fess up. Your X on the yes slot in the ballot hasn’t dried up yet. You know you got duped on the proposition I warned you about.

Once they transition to ‘summer blend’ likely another 4-bits more.

I just found out my water bill is $13.09/unit. lol. Will soon go up again according the DWP.

Anyone who has driven from the LA area out to Las Vegas is very familiar with the view of photo 3 in this series of photographs.

I guess they should invest while the cash flow is happening.   You never know when competition will bring profit margins down.

That would be Primm, state line. All the folks I've taken to Vegas (driving) always fell for my little joke, including wifey.

From that photo's vantage point, I'd declare "Welcome to the fabulous Las Vegas!" They would always be so excited until they begin to notice as we get closer that it isn't so big. You can almost see the major disappointment in their faces. Never fails...  ;D

Vegas is actually another 15-20 miles from that point.

I was only joshing...

I know that.  :)

They had that proposition disguised for freeways repair and maintenance. In fact, Cal-Trans coffer is bloated as I'm sure you know that. That was a proposition to allow Sacramento (Newsom) the Carte Blanch to tax us whenever and whatever reasons they see fit.

Gavin Newsome, aspires to higher office. He has been the face of Democrat
mismanagement and his national polling reflect his incompetence.

Currently he has 79% name recognition but is only the 22nd most popular
democrat nationally.

What do you do if you are Gavin Newsome? You start a podcast!!! Gavin
Newsom is on the wrong side of too many 80/20 and 70/30 issues. Where
80% or 70% of the country is on the other side. Gavin Newsome had
Charley Kirk on his podcast and modified his opinions to what he
thought might be more popular nationally.1

The wingnut left obviously hated him moving closer to sanity and I doubt
that anyone on the right with a brain will trust that his changes are sincere
or especially that he won't change them again if he were ever elected again.

HOWEVER at least a few news sources projected that this will push him to
the top of the Democrat Pack2,3
