Trump to take over Greenland & Panama Canal.

It is going to be an exciting 4 years for sure.   Here is what Trump said about Greenland:

For purposes of National Security and Freedom throughout the World, the United States of America feels that the ownership and control of Greenland is an absolute necessity," Trump wrote in a statement

Here is what Trump said about the Panama Canal:

If shipping rates are not lowered, Trump said on Sunday, "we will demand that the Panama Canal be returned to us, in full, quickly and without question".


It could be real, or it could be a negotiating ploy. 
 Perhaps Trump is signaling Russia you can take Ukraine, and China you can have Taiwan back....but we are taking Greenland & the Panama Canal.   Seems the only way to take these places is by military force.   We (The US) are in a position where we need to change worldwide dynamics and under Trump the world map may undergo some changes.     I wonder if Europe would stand around for this...surely poor little Greenland couldn't stop us from invading them.  Panama can't do much either although we would probably unite South America against us...but that is already becoming the case anyway! 

Perhaps some people here feel we have every right to conquer these lands.  Monroe Doctrine, Roosevelt Corollary, Manifest Destiny...I'm sure we can concoct some justification!

Much of what Trumps talks about simply not going to happen. WE have to wait until he is in office to know what he is going to do. I am sure there will be   some surprises to just about everyone. Panama Canal going dry and may not have much long-term value anyway. Yes, the USA could really use Greenland but the residents on the island do not have an interested in being a US territory.  Very much not likely but maybe we can buy the northern part of the island where no one lives.

The numbers they are throwing around right now are 1.5 trillion dollars

If Trump wanted to get Greenlanders to vote for a US takeover, he could offer each Greenlander 5 million dollars to become a part of the US.  All the Greenlanders could live a life of luxury, a family of 2-4 would have 10 or 20 million dollars.  What stops Trump from doing this sort of thing?  If I were a Greenlander, I would take 5 million per family member.   What does the US care, we would just print that money in a day or so and add it to our 36.3 trillion dollar debt?     That would cost roughly 257 Billion dollars.   Once he had the consent of the people of Greenland, he could wave that in the face of detractors saying it is what the inhabitants want so we are going to 'liberate' them. 

I'm sure some other nations might have something to say.  Maybe China would offer 6 million per resident.  Maybe someday the Greenland Passport and Citizenship would be very valuable.

Not going to happen. Congress would never approve it.

Russia is close to spending 10,000 per Ukrainian all ready. Russia tried to buy Ukraine for 18 billion dollars before maiden. Maybe the offer just was not high enough and did not offer it to all the citizens of Ukraine but rather just the few at the top would have made any money off of it. Before this is all over with giving Ukrainians 50K each may have been a bargain. Russia cost of the war is not going to end with the end of the war no matter the outcome. Could you see Putin trying to explain that to the average Russian. LOL

Why would congress disapprove of getting Greenland? 
If Trump arranged a deal to get Greenland and it required money it seem to me that congress would approve it.  I think the nation would want Trump to succeed in getting Greenland...and many would say by any means necessary. 

If Trump goes after Greenland in earnest, it may not be right but look at the underhanded way we took Hawaii.
