NH Introduction
« on: May 02, 2024, 09:51:08 PM »
Hey guys,

I joined this forum to network with other forum members in the FSU. Next year I'm planning to spend 4-6 months in Russia - probably Moscow.  (This summer I will be in Brazil.)

Is "Travel Discussion" the best subsection of the forum to post about potential meetups in the FSU? It would be great to meet other members in the FSU to share tips, useful info, etc.

Three years ago, I went to Kiev for four months. It was heaven: inexpensive, safe, incredible sights, great restaurants, beautiful women, etc. I have also spent time in Prague and Tallin.

I'm around 40 and I'm often in the Caribbean and California. I work in investment management.

I am B2 in Russian and typically meet women during the daytime (e.g. I met my Ukrainian ex-girlfriend when she was walking by my Kiev apartment).

I look forward to connecting with other members!

Cheers,
NH

Welcome NH. There's the odd member here who lives in Moscow. It might be worth a look at St Pete too.

I notice you mention Tallinn. Andrewfi here still lives there part-time, has done for years. I used to spend a lot of time there and still have a place there, but I seldom go nowadays. It isn't the place it was for me. I like China and Hong Kong for my little jollies now.

Probably as well to stay out of Ukraine for now, although some here still go.

If you can wade through the political stuff, there's a lot of FSU knowledge here.
Trip Reports: Links to my travels in Russia, Estonia, North Korea, South Korea, China and the US are >>here<<

Look what the American media makes some people believe:
Putin often threatens to strike US with nuclear weapons.

I will give you a quickstart Cliff notes version

This link is a basic how to get started
https://ruadventures.com/forum/index.php/topic,4390.msg56897/highlight,rw+fever.html#msg56897

Note it makes a reference to a site to meet FSUW, that type of info gets stale really, really fast.
You can try vk.com instead and let us know how it worked.

You want to blog about your adventures? Do so here.

Here are a few of my trips

Here is a report by a guy who had a total train wreck and never figured out that
the train went off the rails.

The more you read here the more you will have questions. You can use the search feature
or you can ask your questions here. When you ask a question, you will get a lot of advice.
Some of the advice will be excellent, some good and some a lot more dubious in quality.

Above all don't get mad or defensive. Nobody knows you situation and goals like you do
and you know what they say about free advice. (It's worth what you pay for)

Udachi!
