Orthodox Christmas
« on: January 05, 2023, 08:11:33 PM »

Putin instructed to introduce a temporary ceasefire on the line of contact in the SVO zone.
"Taking into account the appeal of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, I instruct the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation to introduce a ceasefire regime along the entire line of combat contact between the parties in Ukraine from 12:00 on January 6 this year to 24:00 on January 7 this year," Putin's instruction reads.

K рождественскому перемирию призывал Патриарх Московский и всея Руси Кирилл. Такую необходимость он объяснил тем, что православным людям нужно посетить службы в Рождественский сочельник и день Рождества Христова.

Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia called for the Christmas truce. He explained this need by the fact that Orthodox people need to attend services on Christmas Eve and the day of the Nativity of Christ.

Ukraine has answered. If Russia wants a truce, they need to go back to Russia. No peace or truce as long any Russian soldiers on Ukraine land.

How would Russia feel if it were Nato invading their country?
3) There has been no "threat" to invade Ukraine. The US invented that and fed it to a complicit media.

A Joyous Christmas for those who celebrate today the birth of our Savior.

Ukraine is definately loosing goodwill with this stance over here. Don't know how america reacts to it, but NL is not kind when people are asked about this.

Russia offers peace for 1 1/2 days without any conditions and Ukraine does not accept, sounds weird.

I agree. Even though I also agree that Russia should completely withdraw from Ukraine, they have lost an opportunity by not accepting this cease fire.

Thank you, that should have been the focus and Ukraine should have accepted.

I remember watching the “ 1914 Christmas Truce” during the Great War. At least one party made the effort even for just 1.5 days even if it wasn’t returned. There’s still a slice of humanity somewhere in the midst of this madness.

Good luck with that.

How would Russia feel if it were Nato invading their country?

NATO soldiers are already "volunteering" in territory that has recently become Russia.

Ukraine ignored the ceasefire and kept shelling civilians, so Russia responded in kind, so that didn't work out.

Happy Orthodox Christmas.

Look what the American media makes some people believe:
Putin often threatens to strike US with nuclear weapons.

Like Russia really planned to have cease fire. I guess there is about three Nato troops left in Ukraine as most have gone home a long time ago. But hell, it makes good propaganda to claim you loosing because you're fighting all of Nato.

What happen to the big offensive you said would happen in December? Well, you did not say which December so maybe there is hope.

I've been reading that the big offensive is due in Feb, so you might get your wish yet Tex.
