Russian Economy Collapsing...
« on: October 30, 2022, 12:43:21 PM »

Very Sobering assessment by Konstantin "Inside Russia" Channel - a formally trained economist who was working for a large Moscow Based Construction firm building major infrastructure projects like Power Plants etc before intl sanctions on Russia due to Feb 24th Invasion of Mafiya Run Ukraine...  Konstantin was forced to flee to a friends extra Apt in Uzbekistan to avoid being swept up at 50 y.o. with 4 daughters and a wife to be forced to go kill brother slavs in Ukraine and likely die in the process...  Cost him over $7K to GTFO of Moscow.

He drinks Twinnings Tea and is very sober in this episode and the facts he delivers are disturbing about the coming economic collapse to Moscow and Russia.

Yeah sure,

We hear about that every once in a while, yet statistics seem to defy those words every time.

Rouble is stronger than ever, even stronger than jan-2022 when this war started.

Like the stock market, it doesn't mean much unless you have a buyer and make the sale.  Is anyone giving USD or EUR for RUB nowadays?  Will a bank in RU exchange them and if so @ what exchange rate?  That'll give an idea of true value.

Markje with all due respect actually listen to Konstantin's extensive analysis before you express a knee-jerk reaction.

Speaking of sobering assessments:

What worries me is if the Russian Economy is crashing perhaps not as bad as the S&P/DOW/NASDAQ over the next 6 to 24 months - and - if the pending Armageddon Sirovikin destruction of all Ukraine Electrical, Water, Sewer, Rail and Road transport, and Comms infrastructure does not force Zalensky to either Negotiate or flee to his $20M villa in Miami then Russia, when backed into a Corner, may uncork a few nukes - not in Ukraine but in London, Frankfurt, Paris, Berlin, Warsaw, and Bucharest (Coalitions of the reluctant and or willing... ) saving a couple of hypersonics thermonukes for NYC and DC.

Yes they are, in the rate listed at this website. Thats why I quote it.

And in large volume too, as Russia only sells gas sold in Roubles now, nothing else.

Have to find the link - just viewed an interview with Gold Markets experts that indicated Russia had been planning for sanctions for a long time by accumulating massive Gold Reserves from their own Russian Gold Miners (rather than selling Russian Gold on intl markets) and untraceable Gold in Kilo Bars is how the Kremlin has been paying for Chechen/Wagner Mercenaries and for Iranian Suicide Drones.

As they like to say Gold and Silver are the definition of hard money.

Russian Economy Collapsing...comparing to dollar???

yep, the rubble has gained against the dollar...70 rubles to the dollar in Feb. pre SMO
but, if you are to listen to the Weezer and others, the dollar is collapsing due to inflation, along with most other currencies, to include the Euro.
seems idiotic to compare ruble to dollar or euro or yuan.  maybe we should start looking at how many potatoes a ruble (dollar, euro and yuan) is buying.  or how many rubles, dollars, rubles or yuan it takes to buy a new car.  or comparing an apartment in Moscow or Vladivostok to an abode in an equivalent city.

this site has the cost of basic groceries from around the world.  and then the 10 most and least affordable countries for that same food.  this is from 2021.
https://www.netcredit.com/blog/cost-essential-food-around-world/#:~:text=The%20Cost%20of%20Essential%20Food%20Around%20the%20World,Catastrophic%20Cost%20of%20Groceries%20...%205%20METHODOLOGY%20
it would be interesting to see a more recent and expanded list.
one of the graphics/maps shows a bag of groceries at $28.71 in U.S.A. and $17.25 in Russia.  how does that compare with avg. wages of those two countries?

I expect that we will soon worrying about the cost of basic food stuffs soon enough and less about comparing rubles to dollars, euros or yuan.

My wife works for a global trend forecasting business and has been assigned to manage the Russian accounts. Her colleagues are pretty jealous at the moment because where the western market has stagnated/declined, her Russian market is booming. She's banking a massive bonus each quarter.

Some companies are paying through intermediaries and some have been allowed to trade again albeit with a 'Ukraine tax'. The company needs the dosh so they've accepted Russian clients once again.

How long this economic boom lasts will be anyones guess but right now, Russia is flying whilst we tread water.

Well what businesses in Russia are doing well?

Well what businesses in Russia are doing well?

It appears that most of them are. The types of business who subscribe to a trend forecaster, are as varied as it gets. Fashion, automotive, retail, beauty, consumer tech, food & drink, interior design, consultancy......you name it. It's booming and it's real. They're paying more money than they ever did but they don't care because business is good.

I know you'll hate that but it doesn't mean it's not true. I see what my wife gets in bonus and her colleagues looking after Europe & North America are going backwards.

I do not doubt what you are saying it true. Imports to Russia have halved. Western companies have left. Even though the GDP for the country as a whole is dropping it likely created holes where some companies are able to expand to take over what is now underserved parts of the economy because there is no one there. Part of why the Ruble is strong is oil and gas is sold making a demand for it and not much of it leaves the country. Sanctions can be an opportunity for some companies because now they have little to no competition. The strong Ruble would normally make imports cheap and kill local businesses, but this is no longer true because imports are limited.

Biden can flood the market with American oil driving the cost down in an attempt to weaken the ruble and bankrupt Russia. Biden has slowed the production of American oil to make sure Russia has funds for their war. Biden and his puppet masters wanted this war more than Putin did.
Over 220 generals and admirals say we are in a fight for our survival like no other time since 1776. If you want to stop the war in Ukraine, fix elections, stop medical tyranny and forced vaccinations, lower inflation and make America and the world a better place, get Trump back into power. The Democrats and Republicans have shown they can't do the job. They are good at robbing us and getting people killed in non stop wars.

Gee, you come up with all kinds of fake crap. Biden is trying to lower the price of oil because it would help democrats with this month elections. Nothing to do with puppet masters or war in Ukraine other than the war made the price of oil high which is bad for democrats.  The dummy (Putin) thought it would be easy and a big win for Russia in a matter of a few days. It would make him famous in Russian history for centuries. Biden would be scared and just let him win look at how Afghanistan turned out. It is just not working out well, so now Putin makes up all kinds of excuses. You talk about puppet masters for a simple reason. You still do not believe Biden won and still will not admit he is president of the USA.  Why don't you give us a list of these so-called puppet masters. I need a good laugh.

Billy you do know this is untrue, yes? The US produced more oil 2022 than the previous year, and is projected to go even higher 2023.

Keeping this matter domestically, you should be wondering how and why then are fuel prices having absurdly gone up so high all year long. And who and/or why are they declaring we have shortage of diesel fuel which would heighten the inflation rate even more soon.

Oil industry is raking in huge profits, military complex is facing pending massive contracts, pharmaceuticals, tech and corporate America are languishing yet NYSE is on a downward spiral 2 years removed from getting infused with trillions of dollars by the feds to bail it out.

Other things to ponder upon are, for example, how the heck can a once $6 figure salaried state politician, living in a  modest condo in a not-so-great neighborhood, then becoming a 2-term POTUS with a salary ($400k while in office, $200K after) not only 'afford' a seaside mansion in the affluent neighborhood of Martha's Vineyard AND be part of a group poised to buy a NBA team that's worth nearly $3 billion dollars in 10-11 years?

I'll clarify. The massive oil production we see now is from permits the Trump administration issued. Biden doesn't get credit for that. Biden doesn't allow for drilling on new land and stopped the Canadian pipeline. The "future" for oil production is bleak and we are paying at the pump now for that bleak future.

GQ, you work in construction like I do so you know a developer just can't buy a large piece of land, clear cut the trees and start building. They must go through environmental impact studies to see if it would impact the environment, animals and community. There is one or more public hearings where the public can have their say and IF everything is okay, the government may issues out permits. The process to build something on land may take a couple years after the initial purchase of the property. Imagine how long it takes to finally drill after initial purchase of property. So if Biden isn't issuing new permits, oil companies are going to raise prices now knowing they aren't going to be pumping much in the future. Besides, your governor in California is banning fossil fuel burning cars so there's no need to issue more drilling permits. He's trying to save your gas money. :)

Biden went to Saudi Arabia before the election and asked them to increase production instead of issuing more drilling permits at home. He needed temporary help before the election to deceive the American people to think he cares about our pocketbooks. Issuing permits would allow an oil company to drill for years on a piece of land which he wasn't going to do.

Biden says economically weak Russia controls our economy more than he does so they get the blame. People who voted for him actually believe Russia controls our economy.

The shortages of diesel fuel are intentional since it is the fuel to deliver products and higher diesel prices will drive inflation up. I've seen farmers and ranchers on youtube showing letters they got for the government to destroy their crops, dump their milk and euthanize their cattle and they will get paid for it. There's coin shortages, stamp shortages, and in the grocery store, empty shelves. No water, no milk, no cat food, etc.... at any given time. I've never experienced a food crisis before until Biden became the Resident of the US, and Bill Gates who became the largest farm owner in America. Also note the non stop pandemics with Bill Gates being the largest investor in vaccines.
Over 220 generals and admirals say we are in a fight for our survival like no other time since 1776. If you want to stop the war in Ukraine, fix elections, stop medical tyranny and forced vaccinations, lower inflation and make America and the world a better place, get Trump back into power. I just watched a really interesting YouTube video, looking at life in a small central Russian town amid war and sanctions. It focuses on ex pats, YouTubers, an Irish restaurant owner and of course the locals.

Quite enjoyable viewing and a good balance to everything negative we're spoon fed about Russia.

World bank classifies Russia as high income country
« Reply #17 on: July 11, 2024, 04:58:30 AM »
The world bank has now classified Russia as a high income country. GDP growth in 2023;

Russia 3.59%
USA 2.5%
Euro 0.4%

We're regularly being told that Ukraine are winning, Russia are losing 1000 men a day and their economy is crumbling. Keep sending money to fight nasty Putin......

Russia has experienced growth not just in their weapons sector but also in the trade, construction and financial too. All despite those Western sanctions. Wealth is spreading and banks have reported an increase in larger deposits whilst those in lower income areas are seeing new upward mobility.

It is true however that poor people are being attracted to the military due to the higher levels of pay. Did somebody tell us that Russia is bleeding out? The reality is we're bleeding out in the west whilst living in denial.

I'd go to Russia tomorrow, if I had a particular reason to; I liked it ther.  I mean I'd have to renew my visa first, ofc.  At some point, I'd like to visit Baikal.
