Expanding NATO would be the most fateful error in American policy in the entire post-cold war era
The absurdity of NATO's goal had reached an epic proportion. Considering more than half of its original members have lagged in their obligations to the alliance, and the same half's full reliance of its national livelihood and social existence to the very nation it allies to be protected from, yet antagonizes it at the same time due to its' military expansion!!! How any of this makes sense is beyond me.
As for the US, our current politicians are now fully engaged in a program, something which John Q. Adams warned us about, of going abroad seeking monsters to destroy, with nary a need for discussion and public consensus any longer, much less simple consideration of its peoples future, needs or wants. We again extended a forward step in another campaign to potentially advance sacrificing our young to protect citizens of nations a thousand miles away. Nations, which many of our young likely have never been to, or know anything about. Just as what we've done in two WW, only to become a symbol of disdain and mockery by millions of its citizens, and leaders, years after.
Now Sweden and Finland would like their eTicket punched after all these chest thumping years?!
You folks are in search of war crimes/criminals, then look at a country that had been focal to all our recent global conflicts, resulting in millions of deaths worldwide, including this one in Ukraine, all for the sheer reasons of politics and arrogant dominance. My beloved country had drunkenly taken massive ownership to that silly notion that this nation is the leader of the free world.
Shame.
The US was a nation that builds what were destroyed. Now it seems, we simply seek reasons and causes to destroy.
