Interview with Lavrov
« on: March 22, 2022, 10:50:44 AM »
So there's an interview with Lavrov, which is in Russian that can be found >>here<<.

Here's the takeaway in English.

Quote from: Lavrov
Lavrov - to the question "Why couldn't the situation with Ukraine be resolved peacefully?": Because the West did not want to solve this situation by peaceful means. This is not about Ukraine at all. Or rather, not so much about Ukraine, but about the world legal order. The United States took over the whole of Europe. Under Biden, the United States set itself the task of subjugating Europe and achieved its unquestioning adherence to the American course. The current crisis is a fateful moment. This is an epochal moment in modern history. It reflects the battle over what the world order will look like. A misunderstood sense of one's own infinite superiority also prevails in the situation that we are considering. Building a world in which the West will lead everything with impunity and unquestioningly. There is a lot of reasoning that Russia is now piled on, because it is the last obstacle, which must be overcome before tackling China. This is simply said, but there is a serious truth in it. Why couldn't it be solved by peace? We have been proposing to solve this amicably for many years.

Not much to argue with there IMO.

This is how the west viewed Ukraine Before the War

The US keeps pumping billion$ of dollars into Ukraine under the guise of 'humanitarian' aid. I'm sure Hunter Biden have at least more than a few 'laptops' in service at this time to make sure to keep up with the accounting of the *10% to the Big Guy*.

Ah the classic USA party trick.  :gousa:

Stir up a hornets nest, arrive as saviours, bomb the country to bits, install a puppet government, rebuild the broken country and then let said country pay the US back for ever more......all whilst gaining influence in a region miles from home.

To be fair its a formula that seems to work for them, with politicians, the weapons industry, the military and private US contractors all getting a solid back hand.  :money:

To note, this had always been just my personal opinion - until such time (likely never will) truth about the US complicity on the 2014 civil war is revealed. After all, the truth behind the Tonkin Gulf incident didn't surface until almost 40-50 years later.

Yanukovich's administration was certainly corrupt. But then so all that came before him too. But methinks the 5 billion US down payment in 2013 was a sign things were to get ugly soon.

The timing of the civil war, again, was not because Yanukovich all of the sudden became corrupt, and why they couldn't just wait the 2 remaining years in his administration to get rid of him.

No, methinks it was because the plan was to make sure there's ample enough time for the Obama administration to solidify our mission in Ukraine. 2016 was also election year for the US. There needs to be time to ensure  interim government were orchestrated and established by the US, even including placing Georgia's Mikhail Saakashvili as Odessa's governor under our payroll and be hastily nationalized as Ukrainian citizen the day prior of his appointment. Hell, we even released Tymoshenko from prison to include her to be a presidential candidate, along with Poroshenko who had been an Embassy 'leak source' as early as 2008 according to wikileaks.

The election of Trump in 2016, FWIW, temporarily delayed what we're all witnessing today.

Bomb the country to bits???  Last I checked the USA dropped exactly ZERO bombs on Ukraine whilst the Russians have dropped thousands including many multiple indiscriminate missile attacks that have killed thousands of Ukrainian civilians Men Women and Children a.k.a. War Crimes - just saying.

As bad as Biden's Afghan withdrawal went at least we are out of there after 20 years of MIC expenditures and no end game strategy.  Helping the Ukrainians with state of the art Javelin anti-tank weapons and Stinger anti-aircraft weapons and now $14.6 Billion in additional military and humanitarian relief has gone a long way to allowing the Ukrainians to fight the world's second largest Army to a stall if not a stalemate - the Ukrainians set a Russian Ship ablaze in the port of Berdyansk today on the Azov sea likely with similar weapons if not dockworkers sabotage.  For once the USA and NATO are on the side of the Angels here.

You could make a case, that given the events over the last couple of decades or so, the US has got Russia to do the bombing bit for them, on this occasion. All the while the weapons industry is purring away as you “help Ukraine with 14.6 billion in aid”.

Same end result without the US being directly implicated. Sneaky

For sure, the Russians have provided the off-ramp that both the USA and EU needed in Ukraine. Of course, we do not yet know how effective that off-ramp will be, but I am sure that Russia will be seeking to minimise the economic cost to the RF.

Let us say nothing about the fantasies expressed above in terms of 'indiscriminate bombing' We can put that down to a lack of knowledge and prejudice and leave it at that.

LOL I blame both the UA Zalensky and Putin RU Mafiya thug regimes for this bloodbath... Putin warned UA for a decade no NATO missiles and article 5 Nukes in UA on the Russian south western flanks...  What have we seen so much footage of UA residential Apts, condos and homes blown up and burned down... AFI the StPtologist would have you believe this is efficient Russian Urban renewal helping their Kievan Rus cousins.

No Andrew you arrogant limey souse it's personal... one faction of the Russian Mafiya was disrespected by the upstart UA Mafiya and a severe contract was executed in UA...

Only economy in UA now is the black market fueled by international Aid whereas RU economy booming due to surging oil, ags, fertilizer and commodities prices.  Sooner Zalensky negotiates peace the less of UA will be destroyed and the Sooner the EU, UK and Can-Am can fund rebuilding UA.

"As Russia’s foreign minister, Sergey Lavrov’s job is to deliver his president’s messages to the world. In the past fortnight, he has pushed Vladimir Putin’s dystopian narrative to the brink: “We didn’t even attack Ukraine,” he said in Turkey; “the West is plotting a nuclear strike on Russia”; Ukraine is run by “neo-Nazis and drug addicts”; the Kremlin is engaged not in a bloody war but a “special military operation” to prevent genocide. "

He seems a perfectly reasonable human being .

Yes quite correct.

In the west it is called unconditional surrender. Ukraine and Zelensky gave the single finger salute to Russia.
