PayPal gone all queer!! It's now GayPal
« on: March 29, 2021, 06:41:48 AM »
We have been using PayPal for over 10 years in our dating sites but a few weeks ago we had a message from them basically it was "Fu*** Off we do not want you any more "  And nearly as blunt as that!

Apparently we were breaking their terms and offering sex services

I wrote to them many times asking for an explanation and evidence .. wow I have never been given the run around so much in my life , no direct answer to any messages just non stop messages about totally different subject absolutely crazy just totally avoided giving a direct answer , they even told me I will no longer be able to use GayPal again for anything..

Basically they have re made their terms of service over night and Russian dating sites in their eyes are now defined as sex sites, modern day slavery and all the rest of the liberal crap going on in the world today.. I couldn't give. a fig about PayPal we removed them as a payment option some weeks back, it was handy as we had a GayPal business card.

What really pissed me off about it is being treated like some piece of shit by the company and the absolutely deplorable service and customer services attitude towards me, they really do that you like shit when they want. I searched all the main directors of the company a few weeks back , yeah I got all of them.. personal e-mail contact the lot and wrote to the bunch of liberal dick heads about their customer care.. no replies .. wasn't expecting anything any way..

GayPal is no loss to me in fact we gained a fair bit cos I checked out some other competitors to see if they had lost PayPal which it seems they have also . so no one in the same niche can use them now..We have not put our prices up for 3 years and after checking a few other sites realized we are nearly giving away subscriptions , thanks to Gaypal we now have extra funds coming in..

I think this photo just about sums up many US companies now ..

Big companies like Paypal and Twitter can ban millions of people and their stock will skyrocket. Companies in Nazi Germany also banned certain people and the companies willing to do so thrived. Biden is dangerous for America and the world.
Over 220 generals and admirals say we are in a fight for our survival like no other time since 1776. If you want to stop the war in Ukraine, fix elections, stop medical tyranny and forced vaccinations, lower inflation and make America and the world a better place, get Trump back into power. The Democrats and Republicans have shown they can't do the job. They are good at robbing us and getting people killed in non stop wars.

While PayPal has been spun off of eBay some 6 years ago the stock has risen. But from the high on February of this year it has lost some +/- 20% in value. While only my opinion PayPal shows the worst attributes of American corporate oligarchy.

Elon Musk invented and started PayPal then sold it to eBay. That is how Musk made his first 400 million dollars. eBay latter split it off into a sperate company.

I think they are seeing the writing on the wall that one day in the future they might get in trouble because some teen aged girl meets a guy who took advantaged of her in some illegal way and was enabled to do this because of PayPal. Then bang ... they get sued. That is how it works in the USA now.
3) There has been no "threat" to invade Ukraine. The US invented that and fed it to a complicit media.

I refuse to do business with paypal, because my money isn't safe with them.

The way they treated some customers is a dire warning to others. (Ironicly enough, msMoby also had a bad customer experience with them, ultimately leading to him being arrested for fraud. He won the court-case against them and got a large payoff).

There are plenty of really, really bad examples out there.

They once tried to shaft a mate of mine out of $5000 , claiming they weren't a bank so we had no legal recourse. So we explored the options and told them: Fine, we will then open a court case in Luxembourgh. They said nothing, but 1 day later, his money was refunded. (Luxembourgh is where their banking license for all of Europe is).

Some examples, which shows at least a decade of abuse :

I used to have problems with Paypal many years ago. Account freezes, iffy chargebacks, etc. But they were a necessary evil of doing business on eBay.

It's my experience that once you pass a certain level with them, all that changes. We do maybe two or three grand a day through them. I haven't had an account freeze in years. We have some kind of chargeback protection now. We win 95%+ of chargebacks sometimes without even any input.

For me, they are a pretty decent provider now. We have customer service in Ireland not drones copying and pasting in India. The money transfer is instant. I've haggled the rate down somewhat. I use other providers too and they're always calling mithering me to go all-in with them. I won't as you can't have all your eggs in one basket.

I use them now for accepting face to face card payments too. Cheaper than our old provider, very efficient, cash in the bank the next day, and 1.75% all-in.

They even have a kind of 'loan' facility at not a lot of money. You click say £25k, payable back by perhaps 10% of your turnover at source, you never even see the repayments and a few months later it's paid and you never even noticed. All fully automated. Very efficient. If you need a fast few grand for something, it's in your account in minutes and you never need to think about it again. You never even notice the repayments. Feels like free money.

eBay is divorcing from Paypal now and moving over to their own payment system. I'm not looking forward to it. I prefer Paypal. They are five stars compared to dealing with Amazon. I'd like to see Amazon broken up tomorrow. They are the parasites of e-commerce.

All that said, I can see why dating sites might be a sticky wicket for them. But there must be providers out there that cover dating sites as there are online casinos, etc that most would similarly shy away from.

Yes I have never had any problems for 10 years, we also always won any charge backs and had a person in Ireland to speak to, never ever had a problem..

Just out of the blue basically "Fuc*** off now we do not need you"

And they have done the same for pretty well all dating sites...

It has made no difference to us in any case , it was just handy with the business card.. money was instant , go out do some shopping by the time your back home the money has been replaced..had to bin it now.. ;D

Time to get in on crypto payments for your subscriptions?

I've used crypto for online purchases in the past. Quick, inexpensive and easy. But no way to do chargebacks.

I did a test transfer of one Litecoin from KuCoin to Coinbase at $180 per a few weeks ago and the fee was a whopping 134 One Hundred Millionths of a Litecoin on the LTC. Basically a spec of dust to xfer makes Visa/MC/Discover look like rapacious pirates (IIRC PayPal runs on top of the major Payment Card Processors).  Roger Ver's BCH Bitcoin Cash seeing real adoption for small payments in restaurants and Shops in Antigua and Nevis-StKitts due to low fees and fast xfers - so Payment Card Industry and PayPal staring at creative innovative disruption soon.

Too many horror stories about PayPal freezing merchant accounts over spurious chargebacks - basically buyers who never intended to pay and used chargebacks to eff over small biz merchants.

Curious if a parallelly run travel site vs Dating might pass muster unless just a Biden Admin Silicon Valley campaign against Russia in general.

Most members alternate between payments anyway so not using PayPal is no big deal.. Crypto online ? mmmm. its like this over 50% of members take 3/4/5 times to make a payment "Insufficient funds" "Do not honor" and that time is spread over 1-2 weeks .. If they have trouble even finding a few $ to pay I think the chances of them having any crypto currency is about 0 Thats why most just sit in the armchair dreaming of being able to afford a flight to Ukraine to pick up a cheap wife to do the washing..

I am curious, I have no idea how big or much crypto currency
is growing, but almost 8 billion people on the planet.
what are the rough % numbers of how people
pay for things, IE: cash, credit, debit, e-transfer, paypal, crypto etc?

Offering an option to pay by crypto may not result in more payments but it is effectively free. It also has the benefit of being a way to make an investment at zero impact to you. Think of it as being similar to being paid in cash with all the benefits that can offer you. ;)

I'm pretty sure that at least some of the businesses I have paid in that way used the crypto receipts in that way.

I expect that it is how Tesla are doing it. But you have the benefit of offering a product with a negligible marginal cost to you. Tesla are going to have to 'buy' a Tesla in dollars every time a punter buys a car with Bitcoin.

NS1 the proportion of global trade carried out using crypto is tiny, but it is increasing quite fast. It is why Square, Visa and PayPal are moving toward acceptance of crypto. They don't want to find themselves disaggregated out of billions of dollars of transactions. Given that the transaction costs of crypto are very small they want to be able to continue taking their cut of transactions and reduce the volume of business that bypasses their systems. You see, when I buy something using crypto they get not one cent of revenue. The only time a bank sees revenue from that transaction is when it is turned from crypto into dollars, pounds, euros, yuan etc.

It is hard to determine how much trade in goods and services is paid for by crypto but 3 years ago overstock.com estimated they were doing around $100k per week. More globally I have seen estimates of between 1-4% of trading volume is accounted for by purcahes of goods and services. That might seem small until you know that the volume of goods and services trade is similarly small compared to trading in the currency itself.

Interesting stuff, I did do a little reading last night.
Crypto now has 100 million users and growing quickly.
Bitcoin being the leader by a large margin. A few others
are starting to gain traction.

They say it does have some risks, but overall top currencies
are much lower. Not sure I am ready to go down this road,
I do not know of a company locally the uses or accepts it yet,
but I suspect this will change quickly over time,
There is nothing permanent except change.

Crypto is most easily suited to electronic transactions. However, there are now debit cards that use crypto making them handy for day to day purchases. As far as I know these work by exchanging crypto for national currencies at the point of purchase.

Online on our own sites, we offer Paypal and a regular card processor. It's about half and half.

On our face to face transactions, the use of cash might be about 10% now.

Bank transfer I only get when we sell large amounts to companies or institutions as they sometimes prefer that.

Nobody ever asked about Crypto. I think it's a long way from being mainstream due to its volatility and lack of regulation.

I haven't taken cheques in over a decade. I gather they're still a thing in the US.

I think that crypto is not far from breaking out as a purchase format at retail level. But as a retailer you might not notice it. That's due to the actions of intermediaries such as PayPal and card issuers who will make such purchases easy for the buyer and invisible to you. These transactions will be very profitable to the intermediaries given the tiny transaction costs on their side - but I'm sure they will offer you no discounts. :(

For retail buyers, there's a point coming at which they will start to make retail level purchases for two reasons:
1) it is getting very easy to do so.
2) buying with crypto means that purchases become effectively free.

Remember last year when I got scammed trying to buy that mobile phone? Recall, I was not too bothered because the purchase was effectively free given that the value of my investment in Bitcoin increased such that the day after the purchase my investment was worth more than it had been the day before I made the purchase? (I understand that my overall investment was diluted but my net worth had still increasedl)

I could buy a Tesla tomorrow and it would be 'free' for me. I am not planning to do so, but like many other investors I have targets in terms of value and time at which I will start drawing down. I will be spending using a crypto backed card and buying goods from retailers.
...everything ends always well; if it’s still bad, then it’s not the end!

We added an option to pay via Transfer Wise though not to replace PayPal just as an extra payment , we also have Western Union which is not to bad we take some from there. The  problem is we are already  black listed from a few banks in Russia due to suspicious activity , some times the wife goes a few times a week to the Western Union office in the bank they start to wonder what is going on with men from all over the world sending her money...

We got a few banks left though then we will change receivers name to myself and start all over again..

Americans won't pay by bank transfer. Certainly not to some bloke in Russia.

Western Union? Ye gods, that went out with the ark.

You need a card merchant. Nochex might take you on if you have a discussion with them first. Talk to James there. I've used them for years.

We got a card Merchant.. We have used CCBILL.com for about 8 years now.99% Pay by credit card..the members that used to Pay by Paypal now pay by card made no difference.

Yeah people still pay by Western Union mostly from Korea and Arab countries..You have to pay 3 months subscription $86.00 If you want to send pay by WU most who pay via WU are regulars so pay 6/12 months.

It was a bit of a pain with Paypal as we also set Paypal up for the tour sites, but that is no loss either I have another card processor for the tour sites, that will all be set up as soon as we have legalised every thing..

We got our Russian bank also offering us merchant services for tours, but the problem there is under Russian law using them you must advertise the prices in the local currency and the International currency .. to much currency fluctuations for that we would have to adjust the bloody prices each day.

I have found TransferWise, now just Wise the best platform. But I know reasonably well the other party.

Is there no way to fix prices in, for example, dollars and have the rouble price pulled live and shown on the site?

Probably but Im sure it would be hassle , the Russian bank merchant account was or is a great deal they really want to come on board for the tours great customer services .. but it really put me off having to have the price in Roubles also so for example the price would be Euro 50/3500 Roubles Also we are running it all with a Russian 000 Company we will be targeting an International audience and already anything "Russian" can be off putting to simpletons so showing the prices in Roubles  mmm maybe it could effect things maybe not.. first impressions always count the very first few seconds a person lands on the page is what can make a sale or not make the sale the sight of a "Russian Rouble" may scare some away.. you know how dumb the general public are!!

We got our Russian bank also offering us merchant services for tours, but the problem there is under Russian law using them you must advertise the prices in the local currency and the International currency .. to much currency fluctuations for that we would have to adjust the bloody prices each day.

Yea you are so in love with Russia why don't you do some type of business where you sell something to Russians and then you can price in the Russian currency.  hmmmm maybe you won't make anything because of the corruption in Russia?
3) There has been no "threat" to invade Ukraine. The US invented that and fed it to a complicit media.
