Food Shortages in the UK
« on: December 21, 2020, 10:50:22 AM »
British people should be absolutely ashamed of their country!!

https://uk.yahoo.com/finance/news/uk-government-tries-to-calm-food-shortage-fears-as-world-isolates-britain-172218066.html

After about 50,000 frigging years countless wars.. natural disasters the UK has come to a useless island that comes to a standstill when no ++++++ cabbages or medicine comes in from France!

Shame on you as a nation!!!
I support no government anywhere, ever, never. No institution, No religion!!

Good news to those ChiNazi lackeys!

They did much work to destroy UK!  They even import dirty China-made face masks, counterfeit cleansing agents to poison British people!

As more and more new versions of Wuhan virus warfare attack, UK will be importing more and more counterfeit medical comsumables from ChiNazi which will become richer and richer!

Those, who are sleeping under their graves now with Wuhan virus, could have questioned me in your way one year ago.

When you delve into it, these "food shortages" are lettuce and a few bits and bobs. The international media are reporting it like bread queues.  (:)

Manny, that's true, and, of course, most media outlets 'forget' to mention that this closure affects a single port and a single tunnel. Most transport of goods continues in a pretty much normal manner.

There are inconveniences and delays but the story being told is largely inaccurate and is told knowing that it is inaccurate. Why is that done? Who wins from spreading untruths here?

Very true, in such scenarios you have to wonder what the angle is and more importantly  “who benefits”?

Express online are running a panic buying story posted today with what looks like photos regurgitated from the March panic buying nonsense. Some of these rags sole intention seems to be whipping up the plebs on a daily basis - today its rush to the shops in the middle of a pandemic to panic buy the shit out of stuff they don’t need.
If you get a minute check out Bruce's TR - Its not quite finished, however its still a pretty good read IMHO.

If I win the lottery I'll finish it this week if not I'll probably complete it when I retire!!! Until then I hope you enjoy the story so far!

How's things in the UK now?  heard one tabloid call it "Plague Island"..2nd wave hit it hard.  I would have liked to go back soon but it's not looking likely.

The UK and world media are harping on about 'Christmas shopping' shortages.

Well, anything fresh has been in the UK for a couple of weeks already. Fresh isn't that fresh! If nothing came in the country from last Saturday, it'd not affect one iota the 'fresh' produce in shops before Christmas.

The UK is not plague island. The new variant of the virus will not kill anyone it wouldn't have done before. The only known difference is that it spreads more rapidly. If people do sensible stuff then the effects will be muted. Of course millions of people do not do sensible stuff. Fortunately not as bad as the USA where a collective madness seems to have descended across the land. That's why I referred to the devastation that will be wrought when the new version spreads, as it will, in the USA.
...everything ends always well; if it’s still bad, then it’s not the end!

Andrew you must be dumb or something. If it spread easier, more people will get it and more people will die because more people caught it and hospitals will get more over run so people will get less care causing even more deaths. This is already in about 6 countries so the whole world will get get it. First case showed up in Ukraine a couple of days ago. It is not by any means contained.

If you need stiffer restriction  to slow the spreading it will hurt business more. We do not know how effective the vaccine will be and the world's economy can not take another year to develop a new one without coming apart at the seams.  This is a real OH Crap!!! moment. We just do not know how bad yet.
3) There has been no "threat" to invade Ukraine. The US invented that and fed it to a complicit media.

they had 5 cases in a poultry plant and shut it down for 14 days.
it is the largest in our province, first reports were it will not affect food supply.
I called BS first day, sure enough, 2 days later we will have chicken and turkey shortages for a few weeks.

this place processes 100,000 birds a day, no way that does not have an effect.
will anyone starve to death, Hardley, likely will put the cost of chicken up lol.

this stuff gets so over blown and the news goes all over it,

2 summers ago, they had romain lettuce with eboli and we had lettuce shortage for a month,
summer it was notcied, but everyone ate, just a few less salads :)
There is nothing permanent except change.

Does anyone ever remember having a chest freezer?? What the hell happened to them.. when I was young (Just a few years back) we had one, fukk up every summer with Salmon, crab, lobster and all the best sea food , we used to catch our own just off the beach..

Some of these Brexit fools say the UK cannot manage without imports from the EU and all will starve.. But I think over the last few decades the general public )Being stupid as they are) have been hoodwinked into not having a chest freezer.. who has them these days?? Lots of farmers still do down in Dorset .. no one else!

I think everyone has slowly been brainwashed into having nothing in the freezer .. and what about all the empty bloody fields in the UK.. I know a bit about this as my ex father in law owns half of Dorset and often I would hear the stories about how much cash he was getting for letting the fields sit empty.. its a bloody joke .. another thing the UK was slowly over time hood winked into..

If you really have a good think about this and fishing its clear the UK has been robbed, conned and hood winked by the EU.. *snip*s!!!!

Look at the fish! I remember when Cod and chips was cheap as hell now its a bloody luxury .. there is enough fish out there to feed the UK for decades.. who needs to export it!! EAT MORE bloody fish!!

I blame the bloody Germans as usual ..

First time round back in about 1918 they had to be whipped!!

Second time the rebranded as the Nazi party .. another whipping for them! In 1945

Third time they thought they would be a little smarter and have a total make over and re branding .. called themselves the European Union!!

2021 finally got rid of the krauts for the 3rd bloody time!!!

Should never allowed East and West Germany to unite.. the whole country should of been divided up between the neighbours!

Texan77, you might want to get somebody to read my post to you. Then you can get back to me with an apology.

Tex, I understand the point that Andrew is making. The reality is the as you note new virus will spread faster. Sadly the COVID - Corona will not (yet) 'be contained' by the vaccine now in distribution world wide.

I've just been for our big pre xmas shop and both the independents and supermarkets are full to the gunnels. A few photo's of some parked lorries and a couple of shops without salad, and we're told that the end is nigh.

Goods being delivered in early January will be a bit of an issue but we're hardly going to shrivel up and die. It's simply more sensationalism from people who should know better, with the aim of provoking remainers and anti government doom and gloomers.

I'm told containers won't be slowed down much. A week or ten days at worst.

The EU shoots itself in the foot. They are trying to apply pressure so Boris will cave and do them a better trade deal. What they forget is, as happened in Russia, the moment people begin to tweak the supply chain and source elsewhere, they will likely stay there.

For example, we get a lot of oranges from Spain. But if there are supply issues, we'll get them from elsewhere. Florida for example. But when the EU stops being silly, perhaps the new supply will be working just fine so no need to change back. Lots of produce comes from Egypt, wine from Oz and the US for example. Nobody will really notice if the EU wants to play silly buggers. Supply chains are sophisticated. We've had a few thousand years practice importing stuff from far away. The only ones to hurt will be the EU members run by quango entities nobody voted for.

I had to look this up:

quango
I'm not happy with any of the other definitions. A quango is a  :censored: ing waste of tax-payer's money where civil-servants are paid 60 grand to push bits of paper around a desk for eight hours a day.
The Strategic Rail Authority (SRA) is a perfect quango. Answerable to no-one, and sucks up government money faster than...
