Gifts for FSU Wives
« on: October 13, 2020, 12:12:47 PM »
With my wife’s birthday not long gone I was wondering what gifts top the list on these special occasions amongst FSUW/WM couples.

Is there a discernible pattern to buying gifts for our wives or is that completely down to individual tastes?

I tend to get my wife clothes, smellies like nice candles, body lotions and potions, perfume , jewellery, shoes, lingerie, chocolates and always flowers.

Of late we decided to gift each other short couples getaways to new places. Of course, Covid has kyboshed that idea.

What about you?

Wifey got a Range Rover Evoque for her recent birthday. I was buying it anyway but as it was on top of her birthday, I could call it a birthday present.  ;D

More usually its some clothes or shoes that she chooses.

Lingerie is a gift for you not her.  :chuckle:

We may be a lot different because she is still living there. But last summer I sent 500 extra dollars and basically told her to take her son out and don't bring any of it back. The one thing that stood out is they bought an I pod. I give them extra money for clothes so they did not buy any clothes. A trip of any kind is always a big hit. Jewelry always goes over well especially when it is given over a nice dinner out. She is living in the Ukraine so an extra nice winter coat is something she always likes.  To you guys it might not be that big of a deal, but a phone up grade.  When I am there we go out a lot but when I am not she cooks nearly every day. So something for the kitchen that maybe wearing out. Hair products and make up does not work she has what she wants and it needs to be exactly that and nothing else.
3) There has been no "threat" to invade Ukraine. The US invented that and fed it to a complicit media.

I usually buy flowers + chocolates... should be enough?

I am also usually in Crimea on her birthday, so does that count as a gift in itself?  :saint:

Lingerie is a gift for two.

Nasty stuff that doesn't make her feel good might be a gift for one, but that's kinda pointless.

I can't speak for anyone else, but nice lingerie is something that empowers your woman, makes her feel better in herself. That's the real gift!

Personally, I enjoy the shopping process, when it is a shared experience the whole thing becomes very sexy - long foreplay. That applies even if the buying is done online, IMHO.

Maybe I am odd, but I think its rather hot if we buy things that she might sometimes also wear to work, or when going out on days when she wants to - that doesn't stop it being special, it can make it more so.

I can't speak for buying cars - never done it. :)

I quite agree.

Buying lingerie ( and I don’t mean the Ann Summers variety) can be quite an experience, whether flying solo or sharing the process.
Properly fitted and understated sexiness in intimate wear is something a woman appreciates, more so knowing that her SO has got it right and knows her well enough to do so.

It used to be the usual flowers, perfume and a weekend away/nice meal sort of thing but we're now 8 years in and onto cars, drones, phones and expensive coats. Probably best described as more practical or essential yet a bit more expensive gifts. I recall she bought me a new radio comms headset for the plane.

Not bought her a RR yet mind.

Well I too offered wifey a choice this year as she was not in the country ( 6 month sabbatical from work looking after our new Grandaughter)
Choice 1 new Car ( as i had treated myself to a new one late last year)
Choice 2 new house!

She chose number 2, and after a fight and a struggle with all things legal  :'( we are now moved into our new house. the "Honey can you do list" has sky rocketed. :hidechair:
Which in a way is kind of handy, as the project with Russian house build is having to rest for the moment due to Covid and travel mess.

Today is only one day in a life of happiness

Is a house a gift? Unless it's in her name only?
Seems to me that such things, and I'd see cars in much the same way because no matter who might have earned the money, isn't it a joint resource?

For me a gift is usually a thing that the recipient would not have bought for themself. But that's why lingerie is a gift for two.

I have never bought my wife anything!!   Honestly!!

Its my birthday in two weeks.. I don't really want a present.. I told her not to waste the money.. will go for a nice dinner and that is it.. Im not really a present person and don't expect anything from anyone..

As for my wife.. well whats mine is ours and vice versa.. we both work on the same stuff so the money is hers also , no need for me to buy a present for her birthday, she will just go buy it herself on the birthday or Christmas..I don't have a separate bank account so it would be a bit strange going to buy a secret present..

I think last Christmas was the first Christmas for 10 years we bought each other something..

Like what most women do, take your FSUW to a shopping centre and let them "hint" at what the want and like. Being a good listening is, or has already become a lost art.

Largely the same here, though we tend to get each other small gifts usually. However normally if we want something we'll just get it at that moment, no need to wait for it for a special occasion  ;D

We do that too, actually. Why her gifts are usually chosen by her. If its not an occasion, we just buy them anyway. I suppose it’s a society thing buying stuff around occasions. We’ve mostly eschewed it. I’m so difficult to buy for anyway as I buy what I want as I go. So there’s not much I need when occasions come around. We end up with token gifts, or in the case of the car, something I was buying anyway I labelled it as a birthday gift as the birthday was imminent.

My wife wanted an iPad recently. Our daughter suggested she might wait until Christmas. When my wife had one a few days later she was complaining she has to wait for Christmas and birthdays for stuff but “Mummy has stuff whenever she wants it, and she just had a car, but I’ve got to wait for an iPhone 10”. Beware daughter jealousy of mother.  :chuckle:

On the subject of lingerie mentioned above, by only buying it on occasions, might by extension make it a special event to wear it, and that’s no good. I’ve always been happy to grant an unlimited budget for that stuff, and by so doing it becomes normal so I get to enjoy it as normal everyday attire.  :8)
