And keep some poor women in Ukraine like a pet..

There was a different time when poor pet Honore de Balzac could not marry the love of his life, a rich ukrainian woman.
Hard to believe, right?

Why does anything positive about the USA bother you so much?  What kind of emotional problem do you guys have?

Best. Meltdown. Yet.

I am curious, in the opinion of those here.
What is the best place to live in the world and why?
What is the criteria for the best country in the world to live in ?

I beleive there is a criteria and it changes slightly each year, but curious to see what folks think
and see what we know. Who does world best places to live rankings and for fun, what were top 10 for last 5 years?

Be interesting to hear folks views on this.
There is nothing permanent except change.

I’m indifferent to positive stuff about the USA Tex. In fact I’d prefer to see you guys getting it right.

Listening to bull shit and reading about your bizarre take on reality sometimes just needs called out. It ain’t personal but you can’t accept anything other than the US being yee haa.

It is not their fault. It is all about genes.
Such attitude was a motivation for centuries to concur the colonies.
Now they are back to square one.

I think it's jealousy.

At one time Great Britain had an empire and ruled the World.

Now they sit around criticizing the USA.

Mind you we do deserve some criticism.

However I have seen TV specials where an American had got a job in the UK and now had to rent an apartment.

What was available was truly dreadful, run down and overpriced.

Horrible apartments from WWII it appeared but way overpriced.

When listening to this bunch: Pot, Kettle, Black.

At one time Great Britain had an empire and ruled the World. It's coming back mate!!

An Empire of cross dressers and rapey stabby Muzzies?

With ms as the queen?

In general, the US is a great place to live.

If you have a full-time job that enables you to have money in the bank, to save for retirement, to pay for healthcare, to live a decent life with the things that Texan would consider necessities in his life.

Over 62% of personal bankruptcies are due to medical bills: https://www.amjmed.com/article/S0002-9343%2809%2900404-5/pdf

Coming from a civilised part of the world, that last point is staggering. In the civilised world, I cannot imagine such a thing happening. Bankruptcy becasue of necessary healthcare - unimaginable!

While I will refrain from commenting on the gist of the post, Andrew he has a valid point. I was surprised by the statement of 62% of bankruptcy due to medical bills.

In fact it is highly dubious.

Here is a study that places the question in a more transparent manner. https://www.thebalance.com/medical-bankruptcy-statistics-4154729

I must even admit I find the lower percentage distressing as well. But lets not create a false impression.

This is a chart where the original data come from the USA census at what per cent of USA families own their own home. You will notice that 66 per cent of the people living in the USA are living in a home that the family owns and one third of them have paid off their home. The desperate numbers that are presented on this site just are not what is really here like 70 per cent of us are completely broke. They take these numbers and include the whole population including children and the extremely old to come up with this crap. These guys do things like a take a family of five people, husband, wife and three children and say only one is five have a bank account.  Or maybe then say eighty per cent of the people in the USA do not have any saving. The number you guy use are miss leading.

A person with a good college two year trade degree and about three years experience can buy a house in this part of the country. There are a lot of people here who will not develop a career and/or will not show up for work regular and they can not buy anything.  Normally it takes a ten per cent down payment to buy a house here. That means a family has to save about twenty thousand dollars to be able to do this. A lot of families are able to do this and purchase their first home.

There are parts of the country where housing is expensive and it is hard for a young family to buy a house. New York city and the big cities in California for an example. But many parts of the country are like here where housing is affordable.

My ex girlfriend went to a Junior college and got a two year trade degree in ultrasound. This is fifteen years latter but now she earns  40 plus dollars per hour and made last year 115,000 dollars plus benefits which made her total compensation 156,000.  She saved up her money and paid cash for a house in Arizona. She is Mexican and her family came to the USA as migrate workers.  I do not mean to try to tell you it is easy they work her like a dog and is on call often during the nights and week ends. She has to put up with a lot of hospital politics and crap. Not every body wants to do it.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Home-ownership_in_the_United_States

The term "homeownership rate" can also be misleading because it includes households that owe on a mortgage and do not fully own the equity in their own that they are said to "own". According to ATTOM Data Research, only "34 percent of all American homeowners have 100 percent equity in their properties — they’ve either paid off their entire mortgage debt or they never had a mortgage".[10]

Great information, Mr. Texan.
I think about how it is important for young people to have an opportunity to have a house.
We  call it an American quality of life, right?

I had last nine years of full time school including seven full time summer semesters.
Being graduated, I am not sure what I am more proud of: my degree or the fact that my school is paid off.
I did not take even one cent from my husband to pay for school. I worked.

Orchid you are the most fantastic person. I have  girlfriend in Ukraine and I would be so happy to pay for her education but I can not get her interested in to going to school. Her son is starting this year and I am happy to pay for that. I am sure your husband would been proud to help you with your schooling but it is a personally accomplish to do it on your own. I just wanted to say I am "WOWed." I am so happy for you.
