It seems that back in the 1990's Biden was a key figure in promoting and establishing Vawa, the violence against women act. 

As we all know this has been widely abused by immigrant spouses. 

Any thoughts?

Probably a very small number of women against men who should know better.

If you're a regular guy who builds a normal relationship with a woman, and imports her to the US, and you have a good marriage, why would she abuse you in such a way if untrue? Those numbers must be miniscule.

But if an opportunistic old duffer that imported some 30 years younger girl back in the days when that was easily possible, and she used the mechanisms offered to her to escape their greedy clutches to make a better life, well, maybe those guys should have known better.

Some of the 'founding members' of this board are long divorced from very young women. We have some awful tales from women in the archives here about abusive men. Some of them deserve what they got.

It's my view that women abusing the Violence Against Women Act in the US was miniscule in reality. There are a lot of very damaged men in this endeavour. Some of them go abroad hoping to mask their negative traits. Their local women eschew them and they hope to have better luck abroad. FSU women are too canny to hook up with losers for long. Those blokes might do better in Vietnam or the Philipines.

Gormless old duffers used to post here about how they were aiming to fly out just the once to meet some bint with K1 paperwork in their pocket and bag some decades younger Barbie from Odessa to cook and slave for them in Idaho thereafter. All rubbish and those blokes got burned.

It's not rocket science: meet an age-appropriate woman and build a relationship with her over time as you would with any woman anywhere. Eventually you might get married. Some will live happily ever after.

Don't obssess about so-called scammers. Normal well-adjusted blokes with realistic expectations seldom meet them. There used to be a saying around these parts: If you can't do it here, you can't do it there.

We already have laws against abuse of any human being. VAWA was political and written by feminists. It has been abused but not on a wide scale. What it did do was create more hassle for American men which in turn discouraged them from looking overseas. It also limited the amount of times they can get married to a foreign woman should some marriage not work out.

Manny it happenes here more often than you might imagine.  I've even heard of it being more common amongst certain immigrant demographics.  Theres even the explosion of the me too movement. 

Look at the accusations against Placido Domingo, 30 years ago by some unknown soprano that never made it in life and now wants to cash out on some money and fame. 

Many women can do it because it allows them to exit the relationship and receive papers faster. 

There are also many women that have an ex or a current lover in America without papers and she uses some other guy as a springboard. 

A thirty year age gap is too much, but I've heard stories of the American man being 10 years older and the woman has a lover her age already living in America and she dumps the American and does the abuse claim on him. 

Also from what I've read abuse does not have to be physical, it can be verbal.  The woman can claim the man doesn't let her leave the house, etc.

It still boils down to men making unwise choices or marrying women they don’t know.

Why is a woman suddenly going to find a lover if you’re a good husband? Why is she going to claim abuse if you’re a good husband?

Many men who import foreign women are abusive (emotionally or physically), starve them of cash, don’t let them leave the house, etc.

You’ll struggle to find a tale here where a bloke has been genuinely abused in such a way in over a decade.

Much of it boils down to unrealistic expectations. But that said, you can’t mitigate every risk. If you try to do so you’ll never leave the house. And some don’t. There are some here still dreaming 10 years later who spent so much time reading about scams they never even got on a plane.

The word on the street is that the demographics that claim abuse most are Mexican and Central American women. 

Manny often times the woman has a boyfriend in their home country.  The boyfriend comes to America illegally.  Then she meets the American tourist, comes to America, dumps the American and goes back with the local boyfriend. 

Some women will tell you they dont know anyone in America when in reality they have some contacts here that used to live in her home country.

That's true. The American government may prevent a guy from marrying a foreign women on American soil more than 2 times but they can't stop a guy from marrying as many times as he wants overseas.

People can be dumb and make bad choices but they still should have the right to marry as many times as they want. Imagine if the feminists who helped write the bill applied it equally by limiting Americans marrying Americans to two marriages too. It wouldn't pass because it's not a good law. It passed because it targeted a small group of people.
