Navalny 'poisoned' ..?

Alexey Navalny ‘in coma’ after falling ill on flight from Siberia, spokeswoman suspects Moscow protest leader’s tea was ‘poisoned’

One would think RT had a contact at the hospital to know if the 'coma' part needed to be in inverted commas .... the 'news' is now 5.5 hours old

Made the US Media as well...

https://www.foxnews.com/world/alexei-navalny-a-top-putin-foe-allegedly-poisoned-reports

“We assume that Alexei was poisoned with something mixed into his tea. That was the only thing he drank this morning. The doctors say that the toxin was absorbed more quickly because of the hot liquid. Right now Alexei is unconscious,” she said, according to the report.

Yarmish wrote on Twitter that he is "in a coma in grave condition."

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said it was necessary to wait for the test results showing what caused Navalny's condition. Although Russia has not fully reopened its borders after a coronavirus lockdown, Peskov said authorities would consider a request to allow Navalny to leave the country for treatment.

It seems poisoning, at least intentional, is not on the cards. The security video from the airport terminal shows that the assistant who picked up the drinks was not carrying a drink just for Navalny. Unless the poisoner was the assistant. The staff at the coffee shop would not have known who the drinks they made were for.

This is just a retread of the guy's previous stories. He, or his controllers, need to become a little more original or diverse in their thinking.

Andrewfi,

Are you seriously suggesting this is a PR stunt ?

Strange occurrences:

1/ Wifey not allowed in ( at first )

2/ Medical plane that is ready and waiting to take him to Berlin currently NOT permitted to take him, even though specialist kit on baord ( snd Mr SAnds) Peskov told us that the Kremlin would facilitate Navalny's treatment overseas

Meanwhile: The hospital treating Navalny has put out a press-statement saying no poison was found in mr. navalny.

Reading what had happened and the symptoms, it could be covid-19... It also has a record of your health deteriorating within hours and if not treated, kill you.

My wife read something in the Russian press that he'd been hitting the booze hard and might have had alcohol poisoning or similar. Might be far fetched but it seems like the story is starting to unravel quickly.

It didnt stop Moby or the news outlets working up an instant froth but many have already started to backtrack and focus on our Navy escorting 9 Russian war ships from our waters, as they sailed from their St Petersburg base out to the North Sea. Also worth noting that this is the only way to get to the open oceans from there!!

It is strange that Navalny has a history of similar claims.

He baselessly claimed to have been poisoned while in prison.
He claimed to have been poisoned when somebody chucked paint at him.

Now we have this.

Inside Russia the guy has a similar profile to Guiado in Venezuela. He is a tool of external forces but is unable to raise his profile. In truth his greatest value to his controllers would be if he were to die in some event that could be portrayed as an a political murder.

'Classic'  denial

'Baseless' - on what do you suggest THAT ? ..

He claimed to have been poisoned when somebody chucked paint at him.

It was triarylmethane dye ( not 'paint' )

ANYone with a questioning mind would note the unfortunate poisonings of opponents of the Kremlin, from

Yushnenko, in Ukraine

Litvinenko, in London

The Skripals, in Salisbury

...and possibly , Navalny ..

I understand from today that he’s potentially drunk too much pop whilst taking his anti depressants. It’s just a shame that the media don’t want to investigate the real story, seemingly preferring an agenda.

Rosco it's all about the agenda!

The daft thing is that if it was due to mixing his meds with booze then he's gonna look quite the twat.
An assistant is gonna get fired now because his credibility is going to be shot. How can a bloke be 'poisoned' 3 times - each time it's a case of the boy crying wolf.

My guess is that the Russian state will ignore him because doing anything else is to give him the oxygen of publicity and he was doing pretty well at suffocating himself anyway.

He can't cry wolf because he's in a coma. Nobody else drinking the tea that day got sick. Germany offers medical assistance but Russia refuses. If there's nothing to hide, let an independent source take a blood sample and Russia can get rid of a major political opponent of Putin's by sending him to Germany or maybe they want to get rid of him in another way?

Oh Billykins, who do you think was making the claim of poisoning? His staff.
The same narrative as has been used before.

The guy is being transferred to Germany - against the advice of his carers and after his family provided waivers of responsibility.

Navalny is not a major opponent of Putin. He has absolutely no political representation.

His political organisation was closed down by Navalny in July, in part because it had been found to be operating illegally. More of the same stuff that got him imprisoned earlier.

Billykins, try learning something before spouting rubbish. It really is hard to believe that one can be as badly informed as you are. It's even harder to understand how you can, without embarrassment, parade your ignorance so noisily.

Neither are the journalists who fall out of 6 story windows. No journalists are ever lucky enough to fall out of the 1st story window but you are one of the very few that can't figure out the reason why.

What delay? He’s in Germany already.

The Skripals was a crock. No media or embassy access? No interviews? House knocked down? All fake news. We do have a topic on that.

This Navalny bloke was never any threat to the Kremlin. He’s like your mates in the Lib Dems - a nonentity. Only corrupt western media made up the idea he was any kind of contender. In Russia he is a bit player.

There was a delay. At first Russian doctors said he couldn't go. Finally they let him go after a certain amount of time. The more time goes by, it becomes harder it become to detect poison in his system. Kremlin never had any threats while Putin was in power. If anybody got too popular or made Putin look bad in the media, bad things happen to them. Although Navalny wasn't a serious threat to becoming leader of Russia, he was still Putin's biggest threat. Putin doesn't want a movement to grow like what he sees in Belarus.

According to https://rueconomics.ru/460405-vrachi-omskoi-bolnicy-postavili-navalnomu-predvaritelnyi-diagnoz the doctors treating Navalny in Russia have reached a preliminary diagnosis. They suggest that he has been poisoned with Sodium Oxybutyrate sometimes referred to as GHB.

A tasteless, colourless, liquid it can easily be administered in a victim's drink. It became known as a date rape drug due to its effects. It is also abused by people who use it to combat daytime sleepiness. It's a bad idea to mix GHB and alcohol because that can lead to nervous system depression and unconsciousness. As the report from the Omsk medics did not mention alcohol then it seems unlikely that this was a self administered treatment.

Moscow media source reports security forces followed Navalny the whole time to track his every move. They sure spend a lot of time and resources on a guy that isn't considered a threat to Putin!

Western media sources reported Russian doctors said Navalny may have had low blood sugar and problems with his metabolism that led to a coma. Are the Russian doctors now allowed to change their position knowing the German doctors are going to figure it out eventually?

Oh, a quick look suggests that it's hard to actually kill somebody with GHB. It'd take a lot of the stuff, around 1000 times the amount needed to get him in the condition he is now. It's not a drug you'd choose for an assassination. This is something one might use to call attention to themselves. I think we can exclude somebody trying to have sex w Iith the guy!

One thought, speed of action. GHB is effective within 5 to 15 minutes of ingestion. If administered in a cup of tea in the airport he'd have been comatose before getting on the plane.

The drug was probably administered while the guy was on the throne in the aircraft.

If the foregoing is correct then it might not have been the world's best idea to push for his expatriation to Germany - no matter what the publicity benefits might've been.
