So the RF gov has put this out on Twitter.

GB and Turkey I can see, but Tanzania? (No, me neither).

What I've not yet been able to clarify is is there any quarantine requirement when arriving in Russia?

Does anyone know?

Is Moby allowed in Russia? We don’t know. Rumour has it they showed him the door. She can’t come here without Moby accompanying her waving EU directives about. So Moby and Mrs Moby can visit Turkey at least. And he’ll like being among his Muzzie mates. Hopefully we’ll get fewer of his “self pleasure” posts. Everyone’s a winner.

Not wanting to disrupt this thread, but are you saying that Moby's current wife does not have the visa Moby said she had? I was envisaging that she could now go to be with her husband to support and help him at this difficult time in his life. You know, the kind of things that husbands and wives do for each other in a functional marriage.

I guess we’ll know if she ‘arrives to him’ imminently.

At least, Rus Emb London have amended their info to UNITED KINGDOM ( was GB) ..

https://www.rusemb.org.uk/consnews/109

CONSULAR SECTION INFORMS
27.07.2020
Lifting the restrictions on entering the Russian Federation for citizens of several countries.
In accordance with the order of the Government of the Russian Federation dated July 24, 2020 No. 1915-r restrictions on entering the territory of the Russian Federation are lifted for citizens of three countries – United Kingdom, Turkey and Tanzania. In particular, starting from 1 August 2020:

       - British citizens can enter the Russian Federation, but from the UK only through air checkpoints across the state border of the Russian Federation.

       - Foreign citizens, having a residence permit or an another official document confirming their permanent residence in the UK, can enter the Russian Federation, but from the UK only through air checkpoints across the state border of the Russian Federation.

The Consular Section of the Embassy fully resumes issuing visas from 27 July 2020.

Please note, that foreign citizens can apply for a Russian visa in the UK, only if an official document from the Home Office confirming their permanent residence in the UK is provided.

Citizens from these countries, which are visa-exempt to enter the UK and not living in the UK, cannot apply for a visa to Russia.

Self-isolation for 14 days is not needed anymore. Nevertheless, entering the Russian Federation will be possible only upon presenting a negative COVID-19 test issued within 3 days before the date of departure.

Does this apply to non resident citizens I wonder? The wording is ambiguous.

The same article isnt on the site in Russian.

All that is left to do is find out how i can reasonably get one of these (PCR) Polymerase Chain Reaction Tests, and the certificate that you need to present as you enter Russia, in the 3 days leading up to the flight.

Actually I did, as Sparky notes, they're asking for a virus test within three days before you travel. That seems a tight timeslot to me as we dont know how long the NHS testing centres take to do the test and how they send it. Russia may want a document with a gazillion rubber stamps signed by the health secretary, the NHS may send you an SMS. We didn't get an answer if the SMS would be enough. We didn't get an answer if an English document needs a translation as they haven't a coherent policy yet it seems.

Alternatively, you can get one in Russia shortly after arrival we are advised, which seems to be what they like, I think it worked out to circa £27, there is an online portal you must use to do that.

That from the Russian Embassy in London a few days ago.

In terms of quarantine, not in Samara, local regions may differ. But nobody is checking is the info we had from the ground. Or the verbatim quote I had was "Nobody cares about it, everyone is barbecuing with pals at the dacha"

A friend in the UK had a test done a couple of weeks ago. They told her 24 hours for the result. She took it on a Thursday and didn't get the results on Friday as promised. It actually came through on the Monday.

Obviously a sample of one so hardly definitive, but if you're getting a test before you leave then choosing a day that shouldn't cross a weekend if there's any delay might be a good call.

I'd have to ask her. It wasn't part of the discussion. Time would preclude it having been done by snail mail though.

Russia will resumed flights to Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and... South Korea  :o from September 21.

First 3 should have been expected; but South Korea surprises me a bit.

About week ago I quickly read an article about South Korea and Covid. It seems the country is very good at contact tracking. There seem to be a number often unrelated flair ups; nightclubs, churches and other gatherings.

Maximun a couple dozen in contact with the carrier and all quickly quarantined. It makes sense, I am guessing there is some app on your phone to obtain these sort of 'results'. I suspect in one form or other this is the Brave New World that awaits us.

A few of my friends have gone to Tanzania/Zanzibar and said it was fantastic.

Safaris and time spend on the beach. Yellow fever shot is required, and all took their young children.

I remember joking with my friend Nadia when she said she and her family were taking a trip shortly but hadn't decided yet. I half jokingly said "you can aways go to Tanzania". 2 days later they were off to Tanzania.

Judging from the photos she posted, it looked like a pretty cool trip.

The logistics were somewhat strange, Moscow-London-Amsterdam-Dar es Salaam. Seems the Istanbul-Dar es Salaam route arrived in the very early morning and was not suitable for them.

From what she said, the trip was well worth the money and their accommodations were high quality and goods were easy to find.
