Looks interesting

https://www.rbth.com/travel/332380-e-visas-covering-all-of-russia

Especially this part..

A further bill is also currently being formulated, which would allow non-Russian family members of Russian citizens to apply for extended-stay multiple-entry visas, provided they obtain a written invitation from their Russian relatives. A document of this type currently requires the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs' approval (the police). The current proposal is to extend the period of continued stay on Russian territory to one year from the current 90 days without any additional restrictions.

Brits appear to be still excluded from the new incoming rules.
Read a trip report from North Korea >>here<< - Read a trip report from South Korea, China and Hong Kong >>here<<

Look what the American media makes some people believe:
Putin often threatens to strike US with nuclear weapons.

Yeah but looks like the new long term visa is a modification of the private visa .. so instead of 90 days on a private visa you will get 12 months multi entry.. and with a stay up to 12 months .. would be great for family members and that would also be available to Brits just like the present 90 day private visa.. Im not expert but Im sure it will happen very soon..

SC's has an application in for a new Schengen as the spouse of an EU citizen on my IRL passport :

Just got this email...as no reply, re an appt date and I was querying if this was due to RU ( USA, too) being on the red list ) re COVID-19

NOT good news for those with partners / girlfriends / or even US folk hoping to visit Schengen nations, without residency

In connection with the epidemiological situation associated with Covid-19, France suspended the submission of documents and the issuance of visas until new orders. This decision applies to all visa applications (short-term Schengen visas, long-term national visas for staying in France, visas for overseas territories). The decision also applies to applications that have already been submitted and to applications for which a preliminary record is already available. In the coming weeks, a gradual resumption of activities is planned for some priority categories of
visas. The consulate will soon inform about the resumption of work.
However, the external borders of the Schengen zone remain closed, and the presence of a visa is not a guarantee of entry into France, which is still limited for some categories of people.

All short-term visa applications that were pending at the Consulate were returned to VFS Visa Application Centers to return the passports to applicants. Applicants whose applications have been rejected by the Consulate will need to re-apply for a visa after resuming work.

Applications for a long-term national visa remain at the Consulate, but their consideration is suspended until the resumption of the service.

Applicants who have received a visa but were unable to travel due to cancellation of flights due to COVID-19 will be able to re-submit a new application by the end of June. An application for a visa will be submitted with a facilitated set of documents (mainly on new conditions of stay) for a period equal to the initial request. These visa applications will receive particular attention. Holders of type C visas with start and end dates from the beginning to the end of the border closure period will be able to apply for exemption from
payment of the visa fee upon filing a new application for the same purpose of the trip as in the previous request. Previous visa must be unused. The consulate will provide more detailed information on the procedure for this procedure, when it will be possible to resume the service.

Residence permits in France, long-term national visas or temporary residence permits (“récépissé de demande de renouvellement de titre de séjour”), which expire from March 16 to June 15, 2020, are extended by 6 months. If you have one of these documents, your main place of residence is in France, and you are blocked outside of France due to the interruption of flights, you will be able to return to France when the situation permits, provided that you fly directly to France flight. When crossing the border you will need to
 prove your stay in France.

In case of justified emergencies, you can extend a short-term visa (no more than 90 days) or a temporary residence permit if you are in France on the basis of an expired short-term visa and cannot return to your home country because this country prohibits entry from France due to health reasons, or due to the fact that air traffic was discontinued. To do this, you need to contact the prefecture at the place of stay.

If you had done what you should have done and applied/paid for a UK spouse visa, you wouldn't be in this mess. Taking shortcuts in life generally evens itself out, further down the road.

In Netherlands you would have been in the same boat. All visa-required countries are not being issued a shengen visa because of covid-19. I can only assume its a shengen-wide decision with all countries that participate in shengen doing the same.

Indeed it's Schengen-wide, but member nations can adopt their own policy on nations they wish to refuse

Who told you that? Your other half goes to immigration and uploads a private invitation for you..they may say no, they may say yes.. if they say no you go back a little later when another immigration officer is on duty and try it on with him .. if he says no try another..  as far as I know its on an individual basis and all you need is that private invite ? So haggle and argue your point I know others have.. once you got that you just go to visa centre with evidence your married .. its easy I THINK There are lots in the same position and I heard and seen some have done this.. As they say you don't get what you don't ask for..

https://ru.vfsglobal.co.uk/family_members_of_russia_citizens.html

You do not need your other half to go to the Visa centre with you to upload a visa!! Foe sure!! I did it for several years .. you just arrive with your invite and apply ..ON YOUR OWN

As I said you need to send your other half down to immigration  ;D. Others are doing it!! And try to upload a private invitation .. it used to take a month.. now its just 2/3 weeks max and its digital.. so it comes straight to YOUR mail box ready for visa centre..

Or as I said before you have some problems making a private invite?

In this regard, the Visa Application Center of Russia in London continues to accept documents for the private visas for joint travel. Please note that only ordinary private visas of an accompanying person can be issued.

yes if you have a Russian wife she must have some brothers or so on.. or maybe your an armchair Romeo and permanently engaged like many are , they cannot afford the full process so wife stays in Russia whilst they save a little more money up, ideal for these people..to get by for a few years..

Good news:

I wrote to the French govt ombudsmen about the six week wait and probs with the website application for EU family members ) and they called me today and said" Just email us your passports and marriage docs and last Schengen"

I did that and they called SC within 30 mins to arrange for her to go to her preferred VISA centre and she can keep her passport, to allow a same day UK appointment and then the Schengen will be inserted AFTER the UK one.

On Aug 24th, the UK govt are having to introduce a special application process for family members from N.Ireland - who must be treated as EU citizens - irrespective of whether Brits or Irish, if born in N.I and at least one N.I born parent ..

This follows the DeSouza case about an American guy trying to join his Irish passport holding partner from Derry / Londonderry

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-52660737

So, will we be reading more of grey area, loopholes, cheap-skates, illegality ?

ms I hope you can make this work though I have my misgivings. You will off course put another nail in your coffin, if you can not say forthwith a departure time for SC in the next couple of days.

Than agin you have a certain, shall we say talent.
