The local monastery in St Petersburg
« on: May 20, 2020, 04:50:39 AM »
We took a bike ride to the local monastery last week, unfortunately it was closed to enter inside and no monks about..

My uncle is a Buddhist monk and some times stays there to do lectures all over Russia.. ;D

I visit the odd Buddhist temple when on my travels.

North Korea:

Read a trip report from North Korea >>here<< - Read a trip report from South Korea, China and Hong Kong >>here<<

Look what the American media makes some people believe:
Putin often threatens to strike US with nuclear weapons.

My uncle is a pretty famous Buddhist monk, He became one 40 years ago, gave everything up all money and all his wealth and he was pretty well off, had a windmill in the Fens, house in the same area , place in London and worked for a top design studio with a lot of famous people, we got loads of original Rolling stones memorabilia .

Now he sculptures and travels all over the world lecturing on Buddhism , comes to Russia every few years on his travels to lecture..

He still comes back to see the old man and have some fish and chips some times.. ;D

Awesome photos and story Steve, thank you!

I admire Buddhism very much. Would even consider becoming one with the right lady.

Are you sure about all of that?

Me neither then if that’s the only way.

My uncle was only allowed to become one after 10 years being celibate , he still lived with his wife during that period. He still goes back to the Uk often and still stays back with his wife, I'm not sure if
they ever got divorced, have to check that out but I don't think so, they both still come visit my parents now and then..

I’m 100% sure of it.

I had a Buddhist GF years ago and while she could be serious at times she still loved sex, to say the least.

Steve is confused.  :chuckle:

Some years back my uncle was coming to St Petersburg not long after I moved here and for his visa application he needed to indicate if he had any family or relatives living here, mom called me to get my address and post code to which I said I was not willing to give..

I don't need no shit thanks..

There was a bit of a fall out over that cos my uncle said it is against his religion to give false information, he was even about to cancel trip over it..The old man man spoke to him and explain he was just a hypocrite cos of other reasons .. he came in the end but never visited us
