Castaway ........
« on: May 19, 2020, 02:08:29 PM »
I always wanted to go and be left on a desert island with absolutely nothing, wife wants to also!

I found this good site.   http://www.docastaway.com/pages/adventure-cottages-huts/southeast-asia/amparo/amparo-main

I think it would be absolutely great experience to be dropped off there for a couple of weeks it is not even stupid money..

Some time I want to get round to it before I'm to bloody old..

I don’t see the appeal of being there with no mod cons.

A luxury island like Branson has, yes. A rock in the middle of the sea, nope.

Yeah but that is like say "I don't want to clime up a mountain, don't see the appeal "  There are millions who would love to climb Everest myself included and the wife..

Just like I have some friends who like to go on holiday and sit around the pool for two weeks slowly moving the sun lounger every few hours to keep in the sun, then doing the occasional tour on a donkey, after which back to the pool..its just a boring holiday..

I also like a bit of luxury and would miss the hot water for a shower or bath  ;D

But be stranded on an island with nothing,, yeah would be interesting for sure..

I couldn't STAND being stuck on one island .. even being on Cyprus in the winter was confining

This couple started off in a French monohull in the Greek islands and ended up doing YouTube videos of their travels, doing a deal with a French Catamaran manufacturer ( Outremer)

They have millions of followers and pay for the cat by producing some v.interesting vids ..

Now they have a toddler and are trapped in lock-down Portugal

I have never claimed to be a Blue Beret

Spurious claims about 'seeing action' with the Blue Berets are debunked >here<

^ This.

In my old age my idea of "roughing it" is sleeping in the downstairs bedroom instead of the master.

I agree with ms, I would quickly feel VERY stressed on one island. WITH NOTHING TO DO.

Each of us has differing vantage points but my opinion is Neckar Island of Virgin/Branson is a rock pile, albeit with very nice hospitable services. It is though a very artificial setting. Now if you were speaking of Peter Island that would be another matter.

I also wouldn't mind a few weeks on an island with every thing, we always want to do to some place like the Seychelles for 10 days lay on the beach and drink cocktails , swill around on the coral reef and all the usual stuff you do there, some time we will get around to doing it, just been to busy last few years.. but it is not something I would want to do regularly lay on the beach doing nearly nothing all week! How boring! yes once just to say I did it, sat under a palm tree with the blue sea, drinking, taking boat trips, drinking on the beach.. Once is enough though..

It is just like being a castaway.. I wouldn't fancy doing it as a annual event   But once why not!! It would be interesting and a challenge ..

I wouldn’t mind spending a few days exploring this island, it looks to be very interesting and serene.

Yes but its still 1*, Wiz.

Why not do that somewhere more plush and take a couple of birds? Then you can feel like Heff without the 1* experience.
