Forthcoming Server Swap

In the not too distant future we will be swapping servers.

The super firm we have used for a few years (Vidahost) was sold to a bigger firm a while back (TSO Host), and support has slowly gone downhill since then while prices have gone up. So we are off.

The new host is a small firm run by two chaps I've used with other sites for a while, and we will be hosted in bonnie Scotland. 

Once we have migrated, Herrie will be able to do some updates we are unable to do where we are. And hopefully the slowness we all sometimes encounter will be a thing of the past then.

I'll update the topic when I know when it will be.

I’m interested in traveling through Scotland at some point. Funny though, I can’t find Bonnie on a map anywhere... is that a nickname for a city or town?

Bonnie is Scots for attractive or beautiful.

i.e. she's a bonnie wee thing.

Rosco, while I have always understood bonnie to be kinda synonymical to attractive, but does it also have an implied secondary meaning of being slightly chubby? Would one refer to a skinny bird as being bonnie?

Makes sense now. I guess I should've picked up on the context clues (i.e. no capital or comma) in Manny's post. My mother did a big trip of Europe and the UK back when she was in college (mid 80's) and she has maintained that the Scottish people were the only ones to make her feel welcome.

In regards to the server swap (and as Chris points out), it'll be nice to regain some speed on the forum.

Hmm, like your 'interpretation' of 'bint' - Mr 'wordy' is somewhat off kilter re meanings of words and their contextual usage

Of course, but probably a bonnie wee thing.

I've never heard it being used to imply chubby. Perhaps there's a suggestion of understated beauty, which is why you may have heard a slightly over weight, good looking girl being call bonnie. I'd use it almost exclusively in the feminine sense or to describe flowers or hills etc.

For a man, we'd used braw, as in the braw lad.
