Great fun car, even though 4 seater, not practical
unless kids are very small, think of 2 seater and if truly
needed can throw someone in the back, preferably people you don't like :)

Other question is, in your market, how hard is it to get parts?

Km 60-100k

Parts shouldn’t be a problem as there is an established market for supercars in this part of the world.
And the steering is on the ‘right’ side here.
Insurance quite reasonable as well.

Insurance quite reasonable as well.

Pretty solid year, no major issues, check it out well and you should be fine.
Friend of mine had a 2014 V-6 it worked quite well. approximate 300 HP
fun car. Change oil every 5-8000 km, air filter yearly or more depending
on climate, you should be fine.

In my world almost every Mustang gets modded. So depending on your end goal
for car, would depend on what if anything you would do. we almost always start with handling :)

I forget where you are, year round car?

The S197 range was left hand drive only. When Ford noticed how many blokes like me were importing them, they made the current generation right hand drive too as Roo notes.

Other readers can make their mind up whether a Ford Mustang GT500 is or isn’t a supercar.

I'd regard them as a muscle car. A super car would be more the Bugattis, Lambos, Ferraris and the like.

Big fun though whatever you call them. I recall build quality wasn't too bad, suspension was a bit basic and the interiors while OK, wasn't in German league. But I enjoyed the ones I had.

Dogsoldier, not being pedantic. There's a difference between what the world calls a supercar and what you do. Manny sums it up quite well.

The Mustang is not an expensive car in its home market, the 2020 models start at just $33k, and it shows in the way the car is presented to drivers. When I have driven them, and I have, one could not be impressed by the quality of the materials used or fit and finish because the emphasis was on giving the driver as much power for the target price as possible. A supercar does not have that set of compromises. On the other hand, one can use a Mustang as a daily driver. Supercars, not so much, the maintenance requirements are too exacting for that, even for rich folks.

Is the Mustang a super car? That's a matter of taste - I can understand absolutely how you think it is, but it isn't a supercar. When I used to visit the USA it was my habit to rent a Mustang when I could, I liked them, even the versions that were available for hire.

The thing was though that you were referring to it in terms of service and maintenance in your current locale, hence my comment about 'find a Ford dealer'. :)

It is true its not a super car, mine beats super cars or at least mid level super cars
and is still not considered a super car. it punches above it weight,
IE: Porsche GT3, Audi R-8, Ferrari 360 etc, sorry you lose.

Only supper car makes is the Ford GT. you have to win a lottery to get one.
List of 10,000 videos was submitted last year for a total of 450 cars
the cost $450 k USD and you sign a contract that you can't sell it for two years.

All that said, bang for the buck is what your getting, about 300 hp
will handle decent without mods, fun toy at reasonable costs.
if you get the bug for not a lot of many you can upgrade that performance
to really piss off some of the high end local cars for very little money :)

Again depends on what you want it for.

I recall reading that in the 1960/70’s they were called muscle cars but that nomenclature has gone by the by.


Anyway, there are online references to these cars as super cars. I suppose it would depend on the model and all the add ons to enhance performance and not just a bog standard model.

I was just asking about people’s experience of the car and whether there were any specific issues they had come across. Nothing to do with location at all as I doubt there are many, if any, members who have driven this car in this part of the world.

Your assumption is that I think the supercar designation is entirely predicated on cost.

I drove the 3.6 V6 model the other day. It didn’t ring any bells with me. Seemed quite a sedate drive although it was an automatic, so the manual version might be a more interesting drive.
