I read a forum post where around 90% of the posts were deleted due to "violating the TOS".  People were criticizing other posts that related to politics and the economy.  I posted a reference to an article with a link and that got deleted as well.

No, I haven't heard of that article.  My article link dealt with the current US economy and the growing budget deficits.  Nothing controversial about it, but the forum moderators just erased a wide swath of posts because the discussion apparently went off topic.
