a credit card only with small transaction fees is also welcome of course.

so no yandex money or mts.djenghi.

i looked at an aeroflot cc. but its expensive if you fly only 2x yearly

You can have a Rouble balance with the Transferwise debit card that should work there. Here's mine:

Works great from the app. I just sent you an invite.

anything not ru-based wont work in Crimea.

https://transferwise.com/help/14/currencies/2932351/rub-transfers

That doesn't say that. It says:

Due to current EU sanctions we cannot send RUB to Crimea or Sevastopol

But they can send RUB to the card, is Mastercard working in Crimea?

Costs nothing to try and has a heap of advantages in other parts of life.

Just been pushing the idea on folks having problems with Spanish banks. Spanish banks, the worst I have found yet for customer service and access. For foreigners, the whole Know Your Customer thing becomes a Kafkaesque nightmare.

Transferwise slashes through the whole mess, instanter!
...everything ends always well; if it’s still bad, then it’s not the end!

I just did some light Googling and landed on TripAdvisor message boards and this seems to be the consensus:

Quote
VISA/MasterCard (except Maestro) issued by Russian banks (e.g. Sberbank, VTB24 etc.) WORKS in Crimea.

I have paid for hotels and restaurants in Yalta and Simferopol by Sberbank VISA card a lot of times in 2016-2018 without any troubles.

But please keep in mind that the card issued by foreign (including ukrainian) banks are not serviced in Crimea!!!

That topic also divulged that Russian Mir (World) cards work perfectly.

A Sberbank card may be the answer.
