How on earth do people get themselves into situations like this?
Surely a fundamental is paying for tickets, if that's what has been agreed.

If the payment didn't go through, was there no notification days or weeks ago?

Is this just a scripted speed bump, unconnected with real-life activities?

He bought the ticket two weeks in advance.  One would certainly think so . . . . . . . . . .

What a motley collection of imbeciles! Pathetic.

Cesar could have gotten a decent local woman if he was rational and applied himself.

Does that not apply to any bloke seeking a foreign bird? Put the same effort into a local bint as a foreign one and you'd be well sorted.

Assuming a guy prefers “BBW” you’re certainly correct.

Just this morning on the Today show they reported that 68% of American women are size 14 or larger. I don’t find that at all appealing. In fact that sort of obesity shouldn’t be celebrated as it leads to chronic diseases such as diabetes and heart disease.

Yet they were “whooping it up” as they discussed the CurveCon. Normalizing such a horrible epidemic isn’t what I call responsible journalism.

Asian women, if recently arrived, are still slim and eat far healthier foods.

Surprisingly there are some women a few years older than myself who are slimmer and dress nicely.

In the case of Cesar it’s just sheer stupidity bordering on mental illness. With the 8K he’s pissed away he could have done all right locally.

I was just thinking about you today and wondering how you were doing. Saw the damage done there on the news last night, looks like you got hit pretty hard. Glad to hear you are ok.

On "Before the 90 Days," Caesar Mack, 46, a nail technician in North Carolina, shelled out more than $40,000 in five years to financially support a 28-year-old Ukraine woman named Maria who he's never met. Some on social media believe he's being scammed, but he believes the woman is real.

Actually I did ok, we were hit directly, being in the eye of it is eerie.
One tree down, mess everywhere, but nothing serious.
lost power for 25 hours, but generator keep everything humming fine.
strangely we lost all forms of phones, internet etc after it was over.
including cell service, no one has yet to explain that.
Few dramatic photos and stories, I will have to see what I can find.

But no one died and no major injuries, so all things being equal
no so bad,  still about 90,000 people without power, but rural areas
always take longer to get back on.

160k winds, 4/5 metre waves, storm surges along the coast as was high tide when it hit.

There was a guy from the forums years ago that showed up to
the airport with a ticket in his sweaty hand who didn't know
that he needed a passport for international travel.

Episode 7 and reality hits our romantic but gullible protagonist like a hammer blow to the head.

He FINALLY is able to make phone contact with his beloved in Ukraine and hurriedly apologizes for the voided ticket and tries to correct his financial error and make immediate reservations to get her to Cancun as soon as possible but she stops him dead in his tracks.  She tells him she is not promising to get on any more planes and she is tired from the whole situation.  In a caring way she is explains to him as only a Ukrainian could that they are not destined to be together in this life, but perhaps they will be together in a future life.  When Caesar laments how hard he worked to support her needs and requests for the past 5 years she ridicules him by saying she understands this but a real man would not complain and whine so much about it.  She finishes the exchange with the words "That is your problem; it is not my problem."

As the reality of the situation hits our hero he poses the final concession question,  "So is it over?" to which she replies, "Yes.  You will have your life and I will have mine.  That's it."

After the phone call ends, our protagonist seems to be reflecting over the last 5 wasted years and tears can be seen welling in his eyes.  He is crushed emotionally and relates his apprehension that all his friends and co-workers will chide him with choruses of "I told you so" and "How could you be so stupid?" upon his return home.

In the previews for next weeks show it appears Caesar's grief has turned to anger at his former amour for scamming him out of close to $50,000 over the past 5 years.  How could somebody have been so dishonest to have done that to him?

Where have we all seen that before?

She didn't scam him. His inability to follow through made it impossible for her to continue with him.

In many instances I'd agree with your assessment; but not in this case.

FIVE YEARS of monthly payments, repeated excuses delaying an actual personal meeting during that time.  Her flight left two days before he was able to make contact with her.  She knew that she couldn't get a refund on the ticket price because she didn't buy the ticket; but apparently she called to find out if this was possible.  She didn't even know the ticket had been cancelled because she never went to the airport and never intended to make the trip.

Oh she scammed him alright.  Almost perfect textbook example of scamming.  His naiveté and gullibility made him the ideal dupe for a scammer.  She "milked the cow" for as long as she could.  Once she got an indication that the cow was going dry, she dumped him.  She used him like a dishrag.

If you watched the first show, he had tried on several occasions to fly
to see her and she always made an excuse why he couldn't come.
So yes she is a scammer. That said, anyone who did what he has over 5 years
deserves it, the penalty in this case for being stupid is apparently
$50 k LOL.

OK this report will combine episodes 8 & 9 -

Our hero starts the day working his way through the 7 Stages of Grief,  He has paid in advance (non-refundable) for a expensive romantic dinner for him and his beloved at which he planned to make is proposal.  So at the appointed time he shows up, by himself and eats the romantic dinner alone.  I mean ya really got to feel sorry for this poor fellow.  This dinner starts with Caesar making a series of self-reflective decisions.  He repeatedly tries to contact his lost love in Ukraine but to no avail.  He becomes frustrated with himself that he will have to go back home and face a mountain of criticism and condemnation for the naivete of his 5-year courtship behavior.  He leaves the filming session saying "I can't do this anymore" and goes to his room to sulk.  After more introspective thought, we leave him reflecting on the balcony of his room overlooking the beautiful Caribbean Sea.

The next morning he is checking out of this hotel and headed home.  However during the night he has developed a revised and optimistic plan.  He confesses to still being deeply in love with her and rationalizes that if he can express those feelings to her in person, all will be forgiven and they will live happily ever after.  He is not deterred by the fact that she continues to ignore his text messages and attempted phone calls.  On the taxi ride to the airport he shares his determination to make the trip to Ukraine to finally meet his beloved in person and reveals his intentions to save money to make the trip as quickly as possible.

He knows deep in his heart that by making the trip, he will get is ass totally kicked by her Ukrainian boyfriend they will recapture the love they shared over the last 5 years.

Manny you ought to contact the producers of this show and offer up Olga to be his translator and adviser when he finally can afford to get on the airplane and make the trip.  I bet the job would pay pretty well.

Episode 10 only had a brief update on our hero.

He arrived safely at home and had his best friend pick him up at the airport.  While driving him home he updated her on the trip and briefed her on his plans to reconnect with his lost love in the future.   She quite frankly told him that he had lost his mind and that travelling unannounced to Ukraine to meet this woman was a huge mistake.  Our protagonist wasn't buying it; convinced that a love as true as the one they possessed could be rekindled by more sincere efforts on his part.

The segment closed with a brief interview with our hero.  This comment he made in the closing minutes of the interview was quite telling - he said, "If I can get her to just realize what sacrifices I've made for her over the past 5 years and all the time, money and effort I have put into making this relationship work she will just have to change her mind and agree to marry me."

{Sigh} Just how many times over the past 25 years have we heard men on one of the various blogs and lists say virtually the same thing?
