I never understood how soccer (or football) and Ice hockey have offside rules that nullify a goal.  American football has offside penalties, but it is based on a line of scrimmage.  Hockey and soccer do not have lines of scrimmage.  So you cannot be in a certain location based on how the other players are situated?  Why should that matter unless your intent is to make scoring more difficult in soccer and hockey?  In fact, scoring in soccer and hockey is more difficult than American football.   ??? (:) :duh:

Think of the line of scrimmage in Footsie as a rolling ball/line. If a player can get in a favorable position in front of the ball close to the goal there is a clear advantage.

That reminds me of the three second violation rule in basketball where a defender lingers "inside the paint" to defend any the opposing players from trying to get close to the basket.  You end up getting called by the referee with a team defense technical foul.  But that happens only if the ref can count to three.   :chuckle:

Half time between team England and the United State - the Yanks lead 2 - 1.

I have a conflicted feeling about who will in the finals.

Game over.  Score did not change. 2-1.  That is three times that the games ended with the exact same score . Seems like a conspiracy going on here.  :chuckle: (:)

To be or not to be, that is the question.

Yes I agree, but did you notice that Rapinoe is now a Trump fan?

Watched the game, the USA won it on merit - but feel sorry for Steph Houghton  - missing the penalty

Well the Dutch girls will face the American girls.

A greater difference in playing style I doubt you will see on Sunday.

Who do you think will win?

How is their style so different?

I’m tempted to root for the Dutch.

The Dutch play a very tactical game, the Americans are attack, attack, attack. The Americans are very fast.

It should be noted the Dutch when the world championship was in South Africa only lost one game. The women still have not lost a game.

I have decided to wear a red white blue Uncle Sam hat and an orange shirt on Sunday at my favourite bar.

The US will walk it..

1/ They have had 1 day longer to recover

2/ They are super fit

3/ The Swedes took the Dutch to extra time

The Swedish and Dutch girls have better looking players overall..))

Thx for the excellent explanation of their differences.

 May the best team win!

You truly have lost it, Mikey

I fail to see how being gay or straight makes one any less patriotic, less sporting or 'leftie'..

The British Tory Party has had more gay MPs that leftie parties and they introduced same sex partnership (marriage) legislation.

I constantly laugh at the descendents of those who stole the land from the indigenous population objecting to the indigenous population of central America seeking to settle and outnumber the former conquerers...

The Cloggies and Swedes have about the same style of game. While England entered the match favoured they came up two goals short.

The America team is favoured to win but I think the Dutch lionesses can pull an upset off. I suspect it will come down to two players, the goalies. There is something about the Dutch keeper that reminds me E. v. d. Sar, she is brilliant.

I intensely dislike any sportsperson who uses their profile during a major sporting event, to spout political crap. That’s not why they’re receiving the coverage.

That Rapinoe bloke.....I mean lady who decided to tell the world about her anti Trump views, then went on to say that the US team can’t win without gay people. Using that logic, they also can’t win without straight people!!

I think Morgan and Dahlkemper are cute but I’m rooting for the Dutch to win based on the needless bitchng and moaning by the US. The dyke just scored a penalty as I type, no doubt the libtards will be salivating!

While I agree with you about athletes who whine about politics it’s not looking good for the Dutch.

I’m pleased to say the USA is winning 2 to 0 at 89 minutes.

It seems the Dutch are specialists in loosing finals. The team that played better did indeed win.
