World Cup 2018 discussion

Its almost that time.  Four months-ish, give or take.  Any of you guys gonna be planning to attend the world cup in any of these off-the-beaten-path cities?  I was honestly pretty keen on it until the whole "USA losing to Trinidad and Tobago when they only needed a tie to advance"......thing.  Anyone thinking of attempting it as a proposed date/travel arrangement with a hopeful future spouse?  I think that could be a pretty fun thing to do.  Crossed anyones mind?

Many hotels booked up - I think by speculators ..

Don't know if I'll go to any games - as my country JUST - didn't qualify - thanks to a Romanian Ref giving a penalty that wasn't - he later apologised

We live in one of the host cities - Sochi

Good luck

Did you get residency in Russia then?
- or perhaps using rather more flexible definitions of common terms than most people?

Russia World Cup: Argentina 'flirting manual' panned

The Argentine Football Association (AFA) has been panned for including a chapter about "how to stand a chance with a Russian girl" in a manual it handed to journalists travelling to the World Cup in Russia.

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-44137979

"Sources in the AFA told local media that the controversial chapter had been lifted from a blog on the internet. It is not yet clear who decided to include it in the manual."

Can anyone explain to me why all the managers of all the football clubs stand on the line  chewing gum??

Is it just a class thing and they are just dumb asses? or what?

I cannot ever recall meeting any manager from any company who would sit there chewing  gum and I have met a fair few in my time.

Steveboy, imagine the stress on these guys. They can't hide can't smoke, just sit and be powerless. I think that I'd be a gum cheer too!

We never went in town last night to the fan fest as we were thinking Russia would probably loose .. wish we did now! It was absolutely crazy in St Petersburg last night..

What would be really interesting is if Russia and England were to be in a final.. can you imagine NO English officials to hand the medals out or congratulate them..

After all the fake stories they made up, they would have to arrive with their heads lowered..
