A thread for my friend.

Believe or not, but it was raining in Vegas....

I believe it only because you've said it. It rarely rains there in the summer time
and it always caused flash floods. If you see water flowing across a road, never
drive over it, so many people have lost their lives in flash floods.

My parents live 207 miles (333km) South of Las Vegas. I lived there as a kid
but was very happy to leave.

Hmm..... good to know.
Yes, driving is special in the US. Sometimes you feel very strong connection to God...
I remember I have leaned the first time that my husband is catholic when we caught black ice.

My hospital is on a hill. One time my jaguar could not reach the top of that hill.
I was sliding down the hill against all those cars with hospital employees at the beginning of work day.
All I could was to pray. I still remember that prayer...

May I ask you why?

Las Vegas became more expensive.
The first time I saw paid parking. It was at MGM.
Shows and buffets are more expensive.
No sales at stores.

There were so many British!!! Why do they come in summer?
The weather in winter is so good!!!

There isn't much 207 miles South of Las Vegas. There weren't many jobs there
especially when I left. Now the largest employer in the area is one of the prisons
there. The prison population far exceeds the non prison population.

Together with desert landscape and unbearable heat sounds awful.
Completely opposite to what people experience in Las Vegas

I had the honor to attend Pushkin Institute while Natalya Ivanovna Formanovskaya (https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Формановская,_Наталья_Ивановна ) was still teaching there.

I was shooting Fishing Village in Mumbai when I saw this girl.
She was very close, but she did not pay any attention to me. She was looking at sea.
She has a plastic bag in her hand. What was in that bag?

Then she walked closer to the sea.
She waited for a minute, looked back, and thew her bag in the sea.
I place the pictures in the order how I took them.

She was waiting for a minute again.
Then she stepped into water, pushed her bag under water, and went back...

Then she stopped at the same place where I saw her fist.
She took the last look at Arabian sea and left.

And was wondering if I have caught on camera the moment when a little girl buries her childhood and becomes a little woman.

Orchid, your photography of people and portraits in particular are breathtaking! Wow! All of them are outstanding, but imo the series with little girl at the ocean is iconic! Thank you so much for sharing!  :loving:

I took this picture in Cochin, India.
You always need to see graffity with the building or street first.

... and then a little bit closer:
