Hello from South Dakota
« on: April 21, 2016, 01:06:42 AM »
Been visiting Russia since 1999.  Somewhere along the way someone on this forum suggested I sign up and now finally I did just that.  A fascinating part of the world for me.  It began in high school where I studied Russian for two years and things kept evolving.  I have a deep interest in cinema, particularly Russian, and I do some subtitle translation for films not otherwise available in English.  A bit of professional work as well, and I have someone in Moscow who helps me out very nicely so I am not pursuing anyone.  For me Russia has been all pluses and no minuses.

Welcome to RUA.

With regard to your speciality, in want to say in the early 90's there was a French/Russian film regarding a Frenchman, I think in fact a baron who goes to Russia to meet a woman. Along the way he makes quite a few blunders but in the end 'gets' a woman. I want to say his translator.

Do you recognize this film and if yes the title please.

There is in the culture section an area on films, you might want to put some of your favorite films there and revive this thread.
