New Forum Feature Posting pictures in your Thread Tutorial
« on: January 23, 2008, 09:30:01 AM »
Hello Everyone,

   As you all may have noticed there have been a few new features added to the board. There have been a lot of requests by members who wanted to try to make the posting of pictures easier. Below is a description with pictures of how to use the new feature. It may look and sound complex, but it's really not that difficult once you get used to it. There is a poll as part of this thread, please take the time to vote so that we know what you think about this feature.

Picture tutorial

1.) I have written a post and now I want to add pictures to my post. So you will do the following:
Click on the 'New Topic, or Reply, quote, etc...' buttons in the forum as usual. (See below)

[ Guests cannot view attachments ]

You decide what pictures you want to post and attach them to your post. (see below)
[ Guests cannot view attachments ]

3.) The amount of pictures you can attach to your post is limited to 6 and by file size.

4.) After I have attached the files in the 'attachment menu', I then go to just above where the smilies are and I will see a new drop down menu which was just recently added to the board.
(see pic below)

5.)Click on the down arrow, a new menu will appear gives you options and looks like this..(see pic below)

Part 2:

6.) You now have the ability to choose where in the post you would like your picture to appear, what size it will be and how it will display.

This is an example:

I have random pictures below that I want to add to this post to show you all how it works.

A.)I will first decide which picture(from the attached I want to use the numbers will be 1-6 at most) I want to display, and for this demo I'm using #1.

B.) I go to the drop down menu and it will place a piece of code that looks like this into my post. By default it will display the first attached image. Just change the # with the number of the attached pic you want to show.

Code: [Select]
[attachimg=] changes to
Code: [Select]
[attach=1]
and will look like this when you submit your post :
Code: [Select]
[attachimg=1]
[ Guests cannot view attachments ]

Screen shot:

7.) Now that you know how to attach and add the images to your post using the drop down menu, you can see the different options you now have a choice of.

The first is the default and full size display option.
The second is the 'full size' display option they are nearly the same.

The code will look like this:
Code: [Select]
[attachimg=] and
Code: [Select]
[attachimg=#]
Here is how they appear:

8.) The next option is available in the event that the picture you wish to post is very large. It is the thumbnail option. It will display your pic as a thumbnail and then when a member clicks on the picture, it will then 'blow up' to full size. If they click on it a second time it will reduce back to the 'small or thumbnail' size

Here is the code:
Code: [Select]
[attachthumb=3].

Here is an example:

9.) The last 2 options will just attach a link (to your attached photo, but it won't show it in the thread) and a 'paperclip' symbol. The last option will allow and give the other member a 'save to my PC' box in their browwser so they can save the image.
Here is the code:
Code: [Select]
[attachurl=#]
Code: [Select]
[attachmini=#]
Screen shots:

Here is an example
Code: [Select]
[attachurl=2]
Code: [Select]
[attachmini=3]
[ Guests cannot view attachments ]

10.) Here is an example post using the new feature. When you go to the link you will see how it 'looks' in action and below is the 'code' he used when he constructed his post.

Please note: At the moment we have reached our limit in pictures, so people will have to link them from Photobucket or some other site.
