If I remember correctly both of you came over from the old Lucky Lovers forum

We all caught Covid, and we have all recovered. I don't know which one
they never told us.

I caught it first and was teased that I was complaining of imaginary man flu type
joint pain. Four days later Angel Eyes suffered the same and I asked if she had
something worse than the imaginary man flu variety.

Mini Me usually runs around at 75 mph, but covid slowed him down to running
around at only 69 mph.

I bought tickets from Delta to fly to Istanbul from Austin TX.
I can take Turkish air to Moscow for $3,000.00 and change 
I am about to bite the bullet and just pay it but it seems excessive.
NOTE: I can change my Delta tickets to another place if it makes
sense.

NOTE: Angel Eyes has a permanent US resident with greencard. That
means she can't travel to Helsinki, Riga, Tallin etc. without a Schenghan
visa which she doesn't currently have.

Mini me and I are us citizen's we have visitors visa's to Russia.

Does anyone have a better idea/solution? Than ponying up $3K to Turkish
airlines?

Try buying the 2 legs separately. Buy Austin to Istanbul and back. Then look at tickets from IST to Moscow. Turkish Airlines charges way too much to get from IST to Moscow. I was able to save a bunch by flying Azerbaijan Airlines from IST to VKO, thru Baku. It took longer than a direct flight on Turkish Air, but it was 1/2 the price, a month ago.

UPDATE: I did have to buy the Azerbaijan tickets through a travel agent. I couldn't complete the purchase through their website despite trying several times and talking with their ticket agents multiple times.

Boatride to sochi and aeroflot from there? I know Aeroflot also flies from Bodrun (Turkey) until half-september or so when tourism finishes.

(Plus, I think aeroflot flies a whole lot better than THY)

I don't know how far in the future you are planning, but I was looking at early November and I can do R/T from DFW to Moscow for ~ $1800. Wizz Air has a R/T from IST to DME for $588.

Sometimes the good prices are difficult to choose because they don't offer very many flights. I suppose it is still faster than taking a bus, train or boat for part of the trip.

I agree, $3000 is too much.

Ah shoot I forgot there are no flights from EU to Russia anymore. I doubt the train runs either. You might be able to fly via Serbia as alternative to Turkey? I remember seeing people fly through "friendly" Serbia.

I usually use kiwi.com or skyscanner.net for planning my trips, they give plenty of search options, including nearby airports, luggage, number of stops, layover time, total travel time etc.

When are you planning to travel?

My wife has booked Turkish airlines... Heathrow - istanbull on the 8 sep and the same night she suppose to fly Istabull - Domodetovo. Not long time now in 2 wks she will fly.......
I noticed that the Instabul to Domodetovo flight is on a Sukhoi 100-95 plane.

My guess is that Turkey due to its involment between Ukraine Moscow.....got permission from USA to accept Russian flights and Tourists.....  so many connetions to also other cities apart from Moscow but via tourist resorts.....

My wife booked flts through an Russian fly by night Travel agent .......(with which I refused to get involved....) so when she arrives home I will tell you about it!

My guess is that all tourist flights to/from Istabull are by Russian airliners   and the Turks sell separate tickets from London to Istanbull and vice versa....Cost = an arm and a leg as they say in U.K.
Will let you know details...when I will know after 14 days, if she arrives to Russia..... LOL

Aeroflot won't/can't take our money. It has to come from a Russian bank.

Angel Eyes came across an I hate Russians because Hillary lost agent at the USCIS
and she failed her on English and told her that she could never become a US citizen.
Because of the COVID rules I wasn't able to be with her, the bad agent intimidated
her and screamed at her repeatedly.

I could relay a blow by blow about how it went down, but I don't have the time today.
We have tickets leaving Texas Sept 8th to IST. Then we stow aboard a fishing trawler?
or sign on as deck crew for a container ship?

I just finished 8 days at a Turkish beach resort with my Russian girl and her family. She bought it through a Russian tour operator. 80%+ of the people staying at the hotel were Russian.

The flights from VKO to Antalya were chartered.
