Taking a moment to give my condolences to Dave's familiy in the USA and Ukraine. I thank him in spirit for his many contributions to RUA over the years and thank him in spirit for his service to our country - may he find comfort and camaraderie with the many veterans who have gone before him to the big parade ground in the sky for a well deserve R&R.  Hand salute!

My condolences and prayers for those who were close to David Neeley.

Once via Skype I spoke with him, his insight was valuable and his questions made me look at things in a different way. As a Yankee I enjoyed his "accent".

Here on RUA he was at times (frequently) I guess at odds with others but there were was always an integrity to his opinions and replies. Odd as I consider a very different sort of relationship with a woman in Ukraine, I have lost a source of wisdom and acumen.

You will be missed ~ God Bless you David.

Please. Knowing David he must be doing 360s in his grave.

He was a Texan. BIG difference.

Also, knowing him, I know he would forgive you. Just this once.

I am not a big contributor to the forum an many of you are, but it hurts to see a fellow member to pass.
He said alot, whether some agreed with his views or not, he gave great insight from one who lives in Ukraine, than one who just merely visits.

I think his posts would be missed more than hated and ignored. Cheers mate. tiphat tiphat tiphat

This is sad to hear.  We never know when, but we all realize there is an end to this earthly journey we call life.

I pray for his family and their loss.

I'm very sorry and sad to hear this.  Most has already been said - whether you agreed with him or not, he was an intelligent and decent man, who loved his family very much and tried to help others.  My condolences to his family and friends, and may he rest in peace.  You'll be missed, David.

Omg, I am very saddened to read this.  I knew David here when I first joined this site and he offered some very helpful advice.  I pray for his family that he left behind.

David will be greatly missed. Especially when it is coming from a person that lived in the country so many of us have come to love so much. Condolences to his wife and and family he leaves behind on both sides of the big pond. His id  pic he used  of a Cheburashka brings back memories of my trip and Aly's daughter.

Would she be offended to get a text without telling her ahead of time?

Although not someone I would have ever wanted to meet or speak with socially (I have no doubts that the feeling would have been mutual) I'm reading this thread with sadness.

David had an expert opinion on pretty much everything, however always had something of interest for new or existing members, personally I can't remember any occasion when I ever saw eye-to-eye with him yet I still feel sadness to read the above news. Davids opinion and views always made for colourful reading, they will be very much missed by all!

RIP David and heart felt wishes to your family!
If you get a minute check out Bruce's TR - Its not quite finished, however its still a pretty good read IMHO.

If I win the lottery I'll finish it this week if not I'll probably complete it when I retire!!! Until then I hope you enjoy the story so far!

His wife sent a couple of photos so those interested could see to whom they spoke, and whom he spoke of.

I'd like to quote from another forum this week:

"According to tradition observed by some in eastern Ukraine, this the end of 40 days of mourning by Neeley's family and friends. So here's to David."

I again raised a glass of samogon to my friend and wished him "poka".

I received a note from Irina on the 40th day and this morning received another. I have forwarded to her what's been written. People, she is truly touched by your sympathy and compassion.

Thanks,

John
