I can give it a go

Всі люди народжуються вільними і рівними у своїй гідності та правах. Вони наділені розумом і совістю і повинні діяти у відношенні один до одного в дусі братерства.

Vsi ljudy narodžujut'sja vil'nymy i rivnymy u svojij hidnosti ta pravax. Vony nadileni rozumom i sovistju i povynni dijaty u vidnošenni odyn do odnoho v dusi braterstva.

All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.

Thats where I went wrong, started learning Russian then met my wife who's family all speak Ukrainian (although they speak Russian too) its bloody hard work getting back into it, Ukrainian seems much  harder to me for some reason? Even now I think I still know more Russian than Ukrainian, and both are pretty limited.  :'(

Yes Proshu, thats another one  :'(

.......and what makes it worse, is that I can be happily trying to take in what they are saying (slowly) and ready formulating an answer (yes my brain works slow at this  :chuckle: ) and all of a sudden they will throw me a curve ball and answer in Russian  :'(

I was out with Ira yesterday at a market, I picked up bits and pieces of what the conversation was about, then lo and behold the two of them for some reason started talking in Russian instead of Ukrainian, I am sure it is to keep my brain fuddled  :( worst of it is, you never can be sure when this is going to happen, it just seems to have a mind of its own, this dual language banter

It 'appears' to be close to Polish in many ways - good thread keep it up - we have lots of UA ladies married to UK blokes and I'd like to be able to say , "that tastes good" ;)
I have never claimed to be a Blue Beret

Spurious claims about 'seeing action' with the Blue Berets are debunked >here<

Here is my Russophobia/Kremlinphobia topic

They love to swap languages around they will speak either Ukrainian, Russian or the two mixed together thats what has influenced my Russian to be a combination at times of the two languages together.

Everytime I got on the Metro I heard something this:

обережність - Caution

Actually it sounded more like Oberechna. So I would appreciate if some one would elucidate me.  tiphat
