We'll be about 2 hours south of Kyiv in Cherkassy for the most part.
We'll be back in Ak on Jan 9. Hopefully we can drag that lost Cannuk over for the holidays.. He should have them off from his teachings..

I HOPE THAT YOU GUYS HAVE A GREAT TIME THERE ALSO! Enjoy!

Boris,
I'm surprised that you're not going to be there to ring in the 'old New Year' or the old Christmas with your lovely lady.

Oh well make the most of what you can!!

I'm dragging 1 young man with us. The other guy bailed out.. This guy worked with a bunch of young people from Ukraine and Muldova at a salmon cannery here and has fallen for a sweet young thing. She's from the same town as my wife so we're going to get him thru the intl. airports and such. He's never been outside Alaska yet alone the flying headaches..
LOL, He's in for a surprise!

LOL, I'm just leading him thru the airports. He's a nephew of old friends of mine. He met her on his own and just wants to go see her in her native land. (And it's a damn good way to see the world)
The guy who bailed out was supposed to write and get to know Tanya's best friend. but he didn't write much so he must not have been too interested.. Anyone want to meet a great gal? Smiley 47, good looking, hard working nurse, owns her own home...  I'll vouch for her even! Cheesy

Best wishes for anyone coming to Ukraine--I hope your trips surpass your fondest expectations!

Should anyone be coming to the Donetsk area, please let me know. If nothing else, it would be nice to meet. I'm still laid up for a while yet, but I can always at least put on the tea pot and be up for some good conversation and, if asked, perhaps a little advice...

Donetsk seems to be one of the least-frequented cities by Western men, by the way. Of course, we're only a village of 1.1 million people...     Smiley

It still seems funny to me, by the way, that people think they must be "led through the airports" and such. KBP really isn't all that big a deal.

For those traveling for the first time, though, I suggest you pack as lightly as possible. If you wear your winter duds on the plane, you can get by otherwise with surprisingly little. The largest logistical problem most folks have is packing too much, then having a hassle maneuvering large suitcases and such around. Today, if I were traveling for under a month or so, I would have no more than a good carry-on bag and a laptop bag. If you haven't yet done so, a site well worth exploring is http://www.onebag.com.
