I fell into it by accident.  I wasn't looking for a FSU woman...or any foreign woman.  But...I have learned much now about Russia and have enjoyed many new experiences because of who I met that I wouldn't have otherwise. 

Man the paperwork and travelling would have been much easier if she had been from somewhere closer.

 i was married to a foreigner for a couple of years and we have a child together, Boris, he is 10 years old now.......
 I merried with him bcz it happened that way, it was not a goal, lol.......... actually I did not even marry him, he wa begging me to marry and promissed me a life like in heaven, but after marriage it did not happen, lol......... I do not think foreign or not , personality means a lot.......,

That is a non answer, Manny.

I won't answer until you define "feminism".  And to start, I'll give you my definition.  A feminist is someone who believes in the political, social, and economic equality of the sexes.  It doesn't mean women wish to become men, or be like men.

It is more usually a woman who is a gender feminist as opposed to an equity feminist.

Men want women who look, smell, dress and act like a woman. Increasingly, they must go abroad to find them. Gender roles have become blurred in Western society. Men want women who are feminine, not feminist. (I use that line on the radio; it never fails to get angry women calling in)

Its simple: Don't ask me to iron the clothes and I wont ask you to change the oil on the van.

A very small minority of women, whether feminist or not, wish to be men, or even be like men.  

But, you continue to evade the question.

Personally, I don't think "feminism" is the problem with Western society, nor is it the problem in relationships in the West.

Actually, the number of men seeking wives abroad is miniscule.  

I disagree that gender roles are blurred.  The changes in Western society have more to do with social and economic factors, rather than feminism.

Men want women who are feminine, not feminist.

Depends what your yardstick is. Of the general population - yes, it is minuscule. In terms of sheer numbers - it is quite substantial.

However, you are not speaking as a Russian woman are you? You are speaking as a Canadian in a relationship with a Russian. Your perception is neither Western male nor Russian female; thus it is likely to differ.

Sheer numbers are still less than 200,000,  aggregate, since the very first days of the so called "MOB" business, so we still are not really looking at a huge number.

I lived in the FSU for a not insignficant amount of time.  I work with Western men.  And what I know from those experiences is that there is no homogenous view.  What you think of feminism is not what every Western man thinks of feminism.  What your wife thinks of feminism is not what every Russian woman thinks of feminism.

It doesn't put anything in "context" unless you believe that you can pigeonhole a person based solely on where they live.

If you want the "cultural context" of a Russian male, you would hear from my husband that women from the FSU are largely immoral, spiritually dead monsters.  Would that be an accurate representation of what all FSU men think, or of what all FSU women are?  Of course not.  It is his perception, even if backed with hundreds of stories.  But it doesn't make it so, any more than anyone's opinion is more than just an opinion.
