So are you telling me that the way Klaus sings the words that he has no Russian language ability ?

I'm not the Mouse, but went back to listen to Scorpions version (and compare lyrics)....at after a second listen, at times it seems as if he's singing in more in German than Russian.

If the guy says the words in Russian, then I assume he knows what he is singing.

Donnie, are you that naive that you truly believe all opera singers can read, write, understand and speak perfect Italian?

Or that when a well-known pop \ rock artist wishes to open up a new market, he REALLY learns the language of that country - rather than just pronouncing the words that have been written down for him phonetically?

Ms.Mouse I'm English, I only hear English music played.  The Scorp's are one of a handful that have made it in the English music world at that level.

"Latin at best"? Some church hymns and Gaudeamus are sung in Latin indeed, but how the operas (created when Latin has already been a "dead" language for a long time) could possibly be sung in Latin?  Shocked

Donnie, may I ask you: how often do you go to the opera?

Well it sounded Russian to me, if you think Klaus did a bad job ya ain't heard me sing in Rooskie  chuckle

Donnie, nowhere have I written Klaus did a bad job - who am I to judge him?   Big Grin

You've asked how is his Russian.

I've answered that it's non-existent.

THAT WAS ALL!

Neither more, nor less.

Ms.Mouse I'm English, I only hear English music played.

...and?

Sorry English is my second language, and I don't speak its "metalhead" dialect well enough.  party0031  reading

Donnie, would you please be so kind to point that posting of mine where I express a wish to:

- find myself in the same room with you;

- to hear you singing - in Russian, or in any other language?

I personally can NOT recall anything of that kind  Cheesy

Especially for Donnie: today's program "И снова здравствуйте!" ("Hello again!") on NTV channel has been dedicated to Scorpions and their "Russian connections"... means Rudy + Tanya, not only the "Wind of change" Smiley

LOL! Depends on the Opera. Many are in Italian, some in French (Carmen for example), and yet others are in other languages including Russian.
