When I first looked at the book, I thought, "Damn, I have only read 3-4 other books this thick!"

With 200+ pages I wasn't too sure I would get reading it all, but soon found the the print layout was perfect! Easy to read and covers what I can see is all aspects of dating in the FSU.

Even though I have made a half dozen trips thus far, if I had a book like this prior to taking my first trip 5 years ago, I could of avoided some of the ensuing traps that awaited me.

I give it 4 Maple Leafs out of 5, had the author not made so many "bald" references, I would give it 5 Maple Leafs.  Grin

If you have yet to go; this book is a valuable resource.

Manny:

Just did an Amazon search and got:  Your search ""Russian Bride Guide"" did not match any products.

Being a Yank I like to buy my books via Amazon - any plans releasing it there soon?

Cheers,

It will be on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Borders, Tesco, etc. in about six weeks. It is a slow process. From my site, it is $13 cheaper (with free shipping) than the official US retail price though. But I don't know what Amazon charge for shipping, it may even out.

Amazon ordered US copies might be printed in the US and may arrive slower at first. Amazon will only keep stock when they know they will sell it. Copies ordered from my site take about five days to the US, as I have physical stock. Amazon often don't, they have to rely on the local US distributor to fulfill orders at first.

Amazon will discount it from full retail until they sell a few, but after that they will hike it up a bit; and with shipping it will be as broad as long, it should still always remain marginally cheaper from my site though. My theory is if a few $ either way matter to you then stay at home and seek a local woman at the pastry counter in Wal-Mart.  Grin

The majority of sales up to now have been to the US and Canada. Only a handful to the UK. (Which is very suprising) What is more suprising is there have been a few sales to Italy, Holland, Belgium, Spain, Norway, Switzerland, Germany and Sweden, and one to Austria. The silent Europeans are seeking RW too!

Hi there Manny

I have a question

The book will be available in the near future as an e-book?

Meanwhile I will order the regular version of the book (I will PM for further details)

By the way I've used your translations services in ladagirl and I must say that I am completely satisfied with the results so far. Keep up the good work.

From my site, it is $6 cheaper than the official US retail price

And you can probably get the author to autograph it for you.  (If you remember to request that.)

The book will be available in the near future as an e-book?

How about an audio book?  I'd volunteer to read it out load and record it for you if you want.  I've been told a number of times that I have a good "radio voice".

Will the book will be available in the near future as an e-book?

There are no plans for that yet, but I would not rule it out in the future. E-books are a different market to paper books really. The e-books I have seen already on this topic are not what I want my work to be associated with, if you catch my drift.  Smiley

I have yet to investigate this "Kindle" thing that seems to be taking off; the writers forums I read seem to be buzzing with it at the moment.

Beware of amateur e-books on Russian women pedalled by the unscrupulous.

When I first starting reading Manny's epic work, it needed an epic amount of work. Nonetheless, the content was sound and one is unlikely to go far wrong if he heeds the author's advice.

The book is a bit unusual in that the material presented is a concensus, rather than just one man's opinion. In fact, much of the wisdom contained therein is drawn (not copied, mind you) from a group of notable luminaries from old, forgotten and deleted forums of yore. Accordingly, every issue has been thoroughly analyzed, scrutinized and circumsized in the mother of all peer reviews.

The net result of this method is that there no silver bullets... and none are claimed. The readers are presented with a conservative, hype-free, low-risk approach to marital success with a Russian woman.

I am in complete agreement with TomT about his assessment of Manny's book.

Reading it was like a summary of everything discussed on the RW boards over the few years I have been reading them, and it was amusing to see hidden references to various characters that have, and still, contribute to these boards (Don - you included!! chuckle).

That said, I completely endorse it (whatever that is worth as a publisher  innocent).

Yep, I just finished the 'Opus Manny' and I found it a good read. There is nothing too original or startling; it is a simple digest of the good and sensible advice offered to folks over many years. In areas where there might be differeing opinions, Manny has covered the ground on both sides fairly well so that a reader can feel they are getting a balanced guide.

There were a few writing mannerisms that might be changed but the thing was readable (albeit that some USAians might need a dictionary for some of Manny's vocabulary affectations). Wink

IMHO, for anyone going through this process, this book will save the sensible reader lots and lots of forum wading. With this guide in hand one can safely eschew the discussion forums and their very high noise level and that will save the 'time is money' brigade a whole load of money.

Well done.

I have been busy this last week!

The book site has just been redesigned somewhat and moved onto a new, faster US server; the old pages looked a bit amateur I thought. Well, I made them, what do you expect?  chuckle  I decided to spring a few bucks for a real live web designer this time.

Pricing on the site has been changed to US Dollars only (including free worldwide shipping) for simplicity. As most copies have gone to the US up to now, that seemed to make more sense. I know you American guys prefer to do business in Greenbacks.  money

If any of our UK/European forum members want a copy who haven’t had one already, you can send me a PM and I can link you to where you can buy in £ or € if you prefer.

We had some problems with Paypal compatibility in other countries like Mexico and Turkey. They should now be fixed. If you guys use the link on the website - and pay in US Dollars - it will be fine. Paypal will convert it for you at point of sale.

I too have read and enjoyed "the" book.

As a neophyte in my search, I have been reading just about everything I could get my hands on up to this point.  My impression of the book is pretty much what the others in this thread have been saying regarding the content, although I have less history to base my opinion.

What I do find interesting however, is the book appears to parallel my methods to this point (actually it is the opposite Grin).  This in itself is reassuring to me, as I see that my paradigm has a sound foundation of sorts.  Although many of the efforts I have been making in my quest are supported by the book, there were several points in the text that opened my eyes regarding current and future expectations.  One thing I had not yet thought extensively about was her move to the U.S..  I had no idea of the trauma involved not to mention the significant sacrifice on both the husband and the wife.  Also the introduction of the future spouse to a local Russian community...or not.

Overall an excellent book from my position.  As a beginner in the arena, I cannot judge based on experience, but then again, everybody has a different story and experience, so I would find it difficult for anyone to claim exclusive knowledge on the subject.  What I like best is the book is not written as a definitive work.  It is proffered as a work of general knowledge and experience, compiled from a variety of sources in a format that allows the reader to understand the concept of pursuing a RW for the purpose of marriage.

Since I choose my own course regarding the pursuit of my Ukrainian partner, I endeavor to consider everything I see, read and hear.  My opinion of this book is that it should be mandatory reading for any man even considering pursuing a FSU woman.  If you can make it through the book and not have a heart attack on the cost aspect alone, then I would say you are well positioned for your journey.  I have read the book cover to cover twice now, and for the first time in my life, have tabbed a few pages of things I need to review as my journey continues.

I just finished reading Russian Bride Guide. I wish it would have been available a few years ago as it would have saved me considerable time, effort, and money.

Guys, if you are considering a relationship with a RW, have made contact and are planning a trip, or are even well into a relationship with a RW, BUY THIS BOOK! I have spent untold hours on various sites/forums trying to educate myself about this process only to have it all laid out in this one book!

The author's writing style reminds me of having a good friend sit you down, explain the dos and don'ts, while imparting extensive knowledge on this subject in a manner that is intelligent, honest, and humorous (loved the bus anecdote).

The authors are to be commended for the time and painstaking effort they spent compiling all of this information. My only complaint about the book is that it was long overdue!
