Leaving in a week to Ukraine.

Hello Guys.

I will be leaving in about a week or so to Ukraine.  I have been thinking of this trip for quite sometime, I say think as plan isnt the right word.  I have about 3 weeks for this first trip.  I have already got the mindset that I should enjoy the scenery and sites, rather than view it as a strict search.

A little summary of myself, should help.
26, athletic build, good business...so on...

I have the general idea down, but it really doesnt do much for me.  Coffee shops, shopping, relaxing, park, reading, museums, beach.

With the amount of time I have, I should have a couple cities lined up to bounce around.  With this in mind, which are good cities to explore?

The other thought was that the cities should be on the smaller and rural side, as that may bring a more quality girl for me?

I have attempted some dating sites, little success, but time is a crunch now, and pretty much I will be going almost blind if I dont hear more.

Welcome Union.

Have you booked your flight? Where are you flying to? I assume Kiev.

You'll have to book accomodation before you get there, get an apartment booked before you leave! There's many if you search the internet, http://www.partnerguesthouse.com/ is pretty reliable and easy enough to get a taxi to from the airport.

Can you speak/read russian?

Cities such as Kiev and Odessa you'll get by without knowing any Russian but in the more remote areas you'll be hard pressed to find anyone who speaks any English, and that can make life very tricky! Taxi, Bus, food and more importantly communicating with women!

Get yourself a Ukraine mobile soon as you arrive, it'll save you a fortune in roaming charges.

Have you considered getting a visa for Russia? Perhaps spend a little time in both countries.

Read a few of the trip reports on here, should assist you with your decision, good luck!

Welcome Audi.

Is it an S4?

Anyway, there's an American in Kherson running an agency and he claims he knows most of the girls and they are not scammers. You may want to give that a shot.

Regarding the size of the cities, be careful of the small village girl. You'll know pretty soon why.

Good luck.

Autounion,

Welcome to RUA. Sort of hoping you have a R8 and perhaps your can listen well!

I would second getting the a local phone, either MTS or Kievstar. Allot of locals have two foons, calls between the same carrier are usually free.

Other suggestions bring some simple gifts, maple syrup, or sharp high quality cheddar cheese (vacuum pack this)

Keys can only be removed from the lock on the horizontal. Purchase a small MAG light, the stair and hall ways in former Soviet Union buildings are grim and unlit. Once inside an apartment it will be different but comfortable.

Enjoy and keep on breathing!

ashbyclarke-
I will get a hotel initially setup for my first couple days there.
I will also get a cell phone out there, or see if I can get my phone to work there. My phone has a translator and voice program so it can help a small bit and bring a couple laughs im sure as well...
I dont speak russian.  Russia never has interested me like Ukraine does.

Muzh1- Thanks for the kind Audi welcome lol!  I have had a whole array of audi, b5 and b7 s4 at one point, now i mostly collect old auto unions/dkw among other cars.

I will look into the Kherson agency you speak of.

What is to worry about the small town girl?  You have me scared..

AvHdB-  No R8...yet!, but something very similar.
I will have to think of some good gifts, those are good ideas though.
