I've been corresponding with a lady from merrydating.com. To be able to transfer information like e-mail address and phone numbers you have to become a paying member. The lady I'm talking to now wants to talk on the phone. I feel like this could be a natural response, but it also makes me worry because that is really the only thing that would ever require someone to be a paying member on the site. I guess for this to be a scam it would have to be the website writing the e-mail to me and not the lady, or the lady works for them. She has in no way showed any of the typical scam signs such as wanting a plane ticket, or help with her sick brother. Any information about merrydating.com would be help, because on Jim's List it is white and I can't find a trace of info on the search engines.

It looks like it is typical. I would walk away in the direction of freepersonals.ru.

In regards to the talking on the phone request and in order to do so you must become a paying member, i guess you would be happy to do so if only you could be sure that this lady was genuine, trouble is without going any further and paying i fail to see how you can become any the wiser.

IMO you must go with your gut feeling on that one, if you "feel" it go for it   tiphat

Would she be offended to get a text without telling her ahead of time?

At some point there is going to be a cost for doing this. Get it over with and start doing something.

Not sure what the problem is here is, most agencies require male members to pay a fee of some description! Nothing new at all. If you like the site pay the fee, if not look for another!

Thanks for all of your advice. I guess to respond about why I don't want to just use the site, it is because it seems like the whole site might be a scam. Like their are no real people on there that are not working for merrydating.com. I found this page on my research:

http://www.dating-service.com/comments/merrydating.com/2146/

I think it would be really strange if the site wasn't a scam now. If you know someone that actually has had experience using it and found this was wrong, please let me know. Otherwise, I might just pay for the site if for nothing else, to expose it so no one else that at least reads this will have to go through this bs.

The linked comment is far from conclusive is it?

How else do you expect the site to make a profit?

In this endeavour you must be prepared to chance a little cash sometimes.

When you find the woman for you, it will cost you untold thousands anyway.
