Title: 25th Anniversary of the Republic of Transnistria
Post by: Steveboy on September 03, 2015, 12:16:21 PM
This week the Republic of Transnistria celebrates it's 25th  Anniversary  :) Lots of parades , tanks and the usual sort of things. The Russian flags are flying high. Tiraspol has had a major makeover  :)

Now has never been a better time to visit the republic

When I was there, just over a decade ago I did not expect that the enclave would still exist. The place was terribly run down and about the only trade was in former Soviet weapons and smuggling.

There's been some deft politicking going on in Tiraspol.

The 'TRNC' was 32 years old this year... It will soon have water coming from the Taurus Mountains in Turkey... promised for years..

You STILL can't fly direct there and the property market sucks and it is crying out for investment.... due to non-recognition.

Also worth a visit ..

You probably wouldn't recognise Tiraspol now. Lot's of investment from Russians , new housing coming up :)

The funny thing is half of Moldova (You know the ones that want to shut Transnistria down) travel there for their weekend shopping

Its peaceful , tranquil and I cannot think of a safer place to spend some time in.
