Title: Medvedev, is losing his popularity.
Post by: Tom Cat on August 04, 2016, 03:10:53 PM
Рыба гниет с головы, может отсюда "эффективность" работы министерств?!This petition will be delivered to:Президент РФ В. В. Путин

Anyone care to comment on their thoughts about Medvedev?

The article uses the line "Putin understands that you keep your friends close, and your enemies closer" which I expect fairly sums it up.

He probably knows a lot of stuff about a lot of people. Hard to dump such a person and have them keep smiling. He needs to think his likely departure in the not too distant future is his own idea.

NOTE: This is my opinion

Medvedev never had the popularity of Putin. So when Putin jailed
Navalny for pointing out corruption Navalny's group released all the
crap they had (and stuff they made up) on Medvedev.

In my opinion Putin won't let the opposition take out Medvedev. If he
let them do so, they would just go after somebody else. So Medvedev's
polling takes a hit, in Putin's mind it's better him than me.

Navalny has almost no genuine support in Russia. He is not stupid and has, himself, said that his exposes, fictional or otherwise, actually help the targets to remain in place. The reasoning is that The Powers That Be will not give credibility to Navalny by following through on his accusations.

My guess is that Medvedev is either largely or completely innocent. I have read Navalny's report and it is full of, well, nothing. Not a single substantiated or substantial point in the document. There's lots of hearsay, coincidence and stretched inferences but nothing more.

Reading this stuff, reading Navalny's words elsewhere, one wonders whether he might, in fact, be a fictional creation, an acceptable opposition. That'd make him a Putin puppet and thus a distraction and soakaway for foreign money and influencers who seek to use him as a tool of opposition. Navalny can soak up effort, time and money from the US (in particular) to no practical effect.

As for Medvedev, I think that he and Putin share a close and long relationship. Putin expects and gives deep loyalty from his close associates. I think it almost certain that they do not see eye to eye on every matter and that, on some subjects and, at some times, they are in absolute and strong disagreement. Putin knows Medvedev very well, knows his skills and limitations. Medvedev may not be a perfect tool but he is a very useful one in the service of the Russian people. He may even be, bearing in mind the relative unpopularity of United Russia and the Duma in general, the 'bad cop' to Putin's 'good cop'.

That's largely my take on things as well.

Regarding innocence I don't think there are any Mother Theresa's or Angels
in Russian politics (or American politics for that matter). I do believe that a
real crackdown on corruption would kickstart their economy, but there are
too many entanglements to make it very realistic.

If Navalny had the goods on Medvedev then he'd've used them. He didn't so there aren't.

If the best part of kompromat is make believe and stories then it is weak stuff.

Will Medvedev retire a rich man? Of course he will, but that's a different matter.

I wonder who has actually watched Navalny's video from start to finish

Andrewfi certainly can't have  - as 'the goods' were laid out for all to see.

It is in Russian - but has English subtitles

Now we can understand why Navalny needed to be found guilty of corruption - to try to prevent him running for the Presidency :)

Personally, I think it was a master-stroke to go after Putin's 'stand-in'

My guess? -
They'll tough it out - hoping the video will not be seen by too many  - nearly 17 million - and many prob not in Russia..

The Kremlin have downplayed the demonstrations - and the numbers present - ( andrewfi ) as a result of the video - and it wan't reported on the Kremlin owned / controlled by cronies of the Kremlin News outlets within Russia.

Dima or 'Dimon' was the subject of an April Fool that got many ( including me )

It was reported that a large fence had gone up on one of the most popular beaches - for Medvedev's Dacha ... :)

Then the journal claimed it had 'overcome the decision due to it's campaign ))   Russians have a GREAT sense of humour

Moby, I leave watching videos to those who can't read or who like you have an excess of time on their hands. I have read his 'report' there is no case. Not even navalny's fellow travellers support him. The document is a poor attempt at kompromat and fools only the feeble minded and those who see benefit in dishonesty - yes, moby, you have found a kindred spirit in Russia.
